Got a Quick Suggestion? - Small suggestions that don't need their own thread

Black Mesa (or just about EVERY other Half-Life/Source mod) on 360 has been shot down more times than I can imagine… and I haven’t even been around here very long. IT WONT HAPPEN.

id make Gordon laugh at the security guard’s body being split in two by that laser. did any1 else find that humorous?

mostly no … sorry , also , from what movie it’s your signature?

The Wandering God

Fight Club. I’d recognize this scene everywhere.

Holy fucking shit, iky, stop it with that fucking ‘The Wandering God’ bullshit in your posts.

It’s not funny and I’m pretty sure the person you’re poking fun at hasn’t even seen it. Nor may they ever.

Um if you saw that happen in real life I highly doubt you’d find it humorous. I’ve seen gruesome things happen to human beings and you’re never the same after.

It was indeed a bit of dark humor in-game, but only because it was done in a decade-old video game with chunky graphics. If it were done any more realistically, it would quickly lose its humor.

this

yeah they should make it with poorer graphix to be more funny , like , the should do the mod in goldsrc …

oh wait

The Wandering God Will Not Stop , No He Won’t

:rage:

Goldsrc can actually be made to have some stunning visuals, despite it’s age.

Right but I was saying that with the realistic graphics that BM is going to have it would not be amusing. It also would be very unrealistic for a sane person to chuckle after watching someone get cut in half by a laser.

Uh, if you find what I experienced in combat amusing you should go play in traffic.

Uh, we’re talking about a video game, you need to lighten up. If you want to make a point about the trivialization of violence in interactive media that’s well and good, but given the context that you’re a devoted follower/fan of a game about an interdimensional war with aliens in which the player is required to slaughter hundreds of US special forces soldiers, it makes no sense whatsoever.

In the context of the post that suggests that Gordon, upon seeing a friend being cut in half, should laugh I believe it does. I was conveying how unrealistic it would be for someone who is actually experiencing it to laugh. I mean besides the obvious fact that Gordon never talks or makes any vocal sounds other than pain.[sarcasm] I mean if Valve wanted him to laugh I think they surely would have done so in episode one when Alyx made the super hilarious joke about the zombines.[/sarcasm]

Nobody said/is saying it would be funny if it happened IRL; again, we’re talking about a video game. In any case, it was a dumb suggestion because since Gabe Newell said YOU ARE GORDON, if you laugh at that part, then its the same as if Gordon laughed - and if you could hear Gordon laugh in the game it would take away from immersion because YOU ARE GORDON and if you can hear yourself laugh but aren’t actually laughing, you’re probably a schizophrenic. And there is nothing less immersive than schizophrenia.

What? I’m not entirely sure how you managed to bring the “Gordon is mute” can of shit up in this conversation. :brow:

[EDIT: Ninja’d! My post was directed at The Javid.]

Uh oh, I think I’m in trouble.
I do sometimes giggle as I dance naked over an upended lawnmower, whipping live rats at it and bathing myself in the fluids that spray forth as they cleanse the stink of humanity from me.
But hey, everyone does that.

Also, you’ve obviously never seen Resident Evil.
Crappy movie, interesting Lazor sequence.

I missed the part where that’s stunning.

Look at a screenshot of Half-Life then look back.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
