Got a Quick Suggestion? - Small suggestions that don't need their own thread

Powered Vest of Combat?

poly vinyl carbonate LOL

It’s the D&D version, I think it adds like +2 Con, 10AC, DR5 and Darkvision.

LOL, I’ve created a monster.

Pretty good, but it needs some regen on there, IMO. Then we’re talking schmexy armour.

Wait, what’s this thread about again?

oh yes, minor suggestions that users will post regardless of the fact that, at less than two months to go, they probably won’t be used.

I guess that will finally explain why they are harder to kill then, something I didn’t really get while playing the original HL

Because they’re hot women. Gordon has a soft spot for hot women. He misses more often because of it.

Oh look, my typo has started an entire conversation.

Ok, gotta give you that one. I’d miss on purpose too.

Moar like gordon has a hard spot for hot women amirite

Ohoho.

Back on the topic of being apprehended by the grunts, the ‘black screen’ cheat in the original wasn’t ideal: it was clearly not just the lights going out because it wasn’t affected by your torch (flashlight) or muzzle flashes if you fired. Maybe some kind of visual simulation of a tarp being thrown over you or a hood being pulled over your face could give a better justification to your instant inability to see, if such could be made to look good.

Gordon captured with a tarp is an awesome idea. I would also ad shortly after some rumble like one or two grunts jump on Gordon to hold him down like in a rugby melee.

Even though it’s a good idea, it would probably be fairly difficult to implement and look good at the same time.

Just have the screen have black slide downwards quickly instead of instantly… and accompany that with the sound of a bag being pulled over the head (microphone?) and it should be pretty obvious. Perhaps make the voices of the grunts afterwards muffled.

What about having a grunt jump out and bash you in the face with his gun? Like that scene at the beginning of F.E.A.R.

What about a flash bang going off, followed by a few bashes to the face? The only problem I see is people whining about how grunts don’t use flash bangs anywhere else.

Yeah, that’ll be the main thing people want to know, why are they able to capture him at that point but nowhere else. You could argue he’s feeling overconfident after beating the assassins, but I think he’d be more concerned about finding more and even more cautious.

I imagine the devs already figured out a solution a while ago, but…

Maybe have the player enter a camera sequence where he gets knocked down and the flashlight is facing the floor, then the camera shakes a bit with each punch, and fades to black after the soldier says “Nice hit”
