Got a Quick Suggestion? - Small suggestions that don't need their own thread

Gordon’s beard should be able to be used as a weapon.

Okay, okay, topic :fffuuu: .

Every time I play the game I always get confused on the part where you have to run past the Garg and zap him. I’m not sure how one would go about doing it but maybe you could add a hint or 2 at what you’re supposed to do there. Or maybe I’m just never paying close enough attention.

I just grenaded it to death until one time after, I turned on the power and the thing started making crazy electrical beams, I thought “I wonder if I could lure the Garg into here and kill him with this instead of wasting all my explosives?”

This might have been mentioned and likely has already been done, but perhaps improve the capture at the end of Apprehension? In the original game, as soon as you step through the door you lose all control and it shuts with the lights going out. Doesn’t matter if you throw a satchel or two through the door, doesn’t matter if you approach the door like other doors that you peek through scanning for an enemy on the other side.

I realize it’s “part of the story” and all, but it always seemed annoying the way it was done. I’m not sure on how to improve it, though. If you make it like a dozen soldiers waiting past the door or 3 soldiers in machine gun nests or something, then the idea of the soldiers being able to simply dump Freeman in the crusher doesn’t make as much sense…however, the soldiers already radio in that they got Freeman (well, it seems so, but they say everything in radio chatter so I’m not positive about that), so that doesn’t make sense already.

When I first played Half-Life, I was totally shocked that I got captured - and that’s exactly how it’s supposed to be, I think. Therefore, seeing soldiers wait in the room would ruin that surprise.

there are other ways of justifying the loss of control.
there could be a flash, the HEV suit could go WARNING Elecrtro magnetic… inter… inter-fer… SSHHH… then all control is lost.

There was one time where a turret “killed” a marine, when you get the M4/M16 from a dead soldier, and there is a turret in front of his body.

EDIT: But anyways, if no one’s mentioned it, I would like other people in HEV suits to come up more frequently, not necessarily as NPC’s (though it would be cool) but as dead bodies, people killed in front of your eyes, etc. I always thought it was weird that there were dozens of HEV suits, but for some reason, you only see them in Xen even though you use a HEV suit in the building.

No, just no. HEV suits shall only be seen on Xen besides the one Freeman is wearing, of course. And yes, those dead people on Xen are not as awesome as Freeman because they obviously were not carrying weapons or they would still be alive.

Awww…well it always seemed strange to me that Gordon was the only one that used a HEV suit in the Black Mesa Compound even though it was proven in HL2 that it’s not too hard to get a hold of HEV suits. (Kleiner manages to keep one in storage just in case even though you only see one HEV suit in Black Mesa which is the one you wear in HL1)

I don’t recall any mention of any HEV suit wearing scientists only appearing in Xen in the faq.

EDIT: Yep, no mention of HEV suits at all.

Exactly; we don’t mention everything in the FAQ…

Sorry, it’s just I don’t recall any post saying no HEV suits, either.

So then…what was the purpose of that post? And also, I think that there is one in Blue Shift or OP now that I think of it. He was like, in a small glass chamber in a clear, above ground pool that had a teleporter in it? I think it was OS…

But I was just saying, it would be nice to see some discarded HEV suits in the distance or something seeing as a few years later they can still acquire a HEV suit and bring it to City 17…

I don’t recall any HEV suits scientists in either Blue Shift or Opposing Force. Except for the same dead ones like in normal Half-Life.
As for the HEV suit in Half-Life 2, I always imagined that the GMan gave it to them. Seeing as how they were all so sure that Gordon would return. And how they said “Your HEV suit still fits you like a glove.” Implying that its the same suit he wore before.

^This. The entire post, actually.

I’ve a suggestion, (although it may piss you off) why not have the announcements have segments where certain well known members of the science team are asked to call (place three-or-four- digit number here)

The grunts were talking on the radio sure, but who was on the other end could be anybody, it clearly wasn’t the ‘man in charge’ who gave the order to capture freeman was it?

Can you not just fill in the gaps every now and again? Instead of just assuming it doesn’t make sense at all.

How were there tons of HEV suits in blackmesa? You only ever see 3 stations for them throughout the game, which are all accounted for. CG. GC. ( always found it odd they have the same initials. ) and GF.
Then you see 3 more station in the lambda core, and these are easily accounted for in Xen. If anything there should be more HEV stations… but we don’t see all of the facility do we!

Infact other than the lambda core and sector C, there are very few places we go to that have the clearance for HEV suits. I very much doubt they use them everywhere.

Suggestion: Marines using 50.cal’s on top of the tanks.

Also, a question. Will the team have HECU marines aswell as regular marines?

The HECU skin with a PCV, these soldiers could be more difficult to kill aswell?

They’re talking with other soldiers?

Colette Green and Gina Cross

HECU only.

The HECU soldiers in the mod don’t wear PCV’s.

They were talking to each other. No-one else.

Whether or not they are canon is arguable.

We haven’t been throughout the whole place. Their are probably more H.E.V. stations scattered about that we don’t see. The fact that there are H.E.V. charging stations everywhere supports this.

Sounds overpowered.

What’s the difference?

The Soldiers in this mod don’t use the PVC. Not sure why, the devs just chose to go for a more traditional approach by giving them standard body armor.

^I’m sure soldiers in the mod don’t use PVC either, they use Kevlar!

PCV is Kevlar with an onboard computer. Does it really make a difference?
