Got a Quick Suggestion? - Small suggestions that don't need their own thread

Nope.

Even with cl_ragdoll_collide 1 they still fall through props.

Yeah that annoyed me too. When you’d shoot the ragdoll, it would move accordingly but the bullet itself would go through to the ground underneath. I would much prefer it if they were made to be like the actual props - bodies that were heavy and that you could hit with a crowbar and it would mark it.

Garry’s Mod gets the ragdolls right because they are made into physics objects on death. They collide with other bodies and props. However any damage or other decals on the model (bullet wounds / paint) would disappear.

One disadvantage though is that it could interfere with NPC and player movement.

There’s gibbing for that.

Yeah but they don’t always gib.

Not necessarily - just make it so that the player and other npcs can walk straight through it. I agree that having dozens or even five interacting bodies piled upon one another would slow the average computer down significantly.

Which is why it should be an option. Y’know, fot the guys that can handle it.

But if it requires effort on the part of devs, and most of their audience will not benefit from that effort, they’d probably rather work on something else.

It’s alright…I’ll find a way to do it myself. :frowning:

Hey,

I don’t know if this has already been suggested or not, but, what about adding a head bobbing effect? I mean, look at this video, precisly when he turns at the corner. It doesn’t look like he his walking. It’s more like ice skating. It would be nice to see the camera and the weapon moving a little bit downward.

The fact that there didn’t seem to be any view model bobing is probably what threw you off, and they’ve probably added that by now, seeing as that was old footage. Now that you mention it, the camera roll seemed a bit excessive to me. Synergy has the best camera roll of any source engine mod. It’s not as excessive as many mods, and not as static as HL2.

What sort of bugs were sorted out?

I’m guessing there were visible edges to the models or the models interfered with the camera when the bobbing was enabled.

Hell, Why does it matter? They’re fixed now.

Because it was interesting to him?

Shut up. No one was talking to you.
I also wasn’t asking for guesses.

I was simply giving an example of problems I’ve experienced when working with custom view models. You didn’t need to act like a dick about it. Jeez.

Better?

Yes.

(been a long day, sorry)

I direct you too…

So, you’re accepting her offer, right? If you don’t I will.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
