Got a Quick Suggestion? - Small suggestions that don't need their own thread

Of bliss.

Bodies that are placed in a map act as physics objects however. Dead troops in Nova Prospect can be bashed around and crowbar hits leave blood stains.

I think that you can turn ragdolls on in the console, causing all of our dying enemies to turn into our favorite bloodied-up, hittable corpses. It doesn’t help your FPS, by any means.

Is there any way to get around that though? Like have bodies that are placed in maps but which allow the player and other npcs to travel through? That would be the ideal. Having the bodies as props in HL2 didn’t quite work, since the player would bump into and slide on the bodies awkwardly.

How do you do it?

Flagging them as debris props avoids this.

Thnx, now I have a reason to play HL all over again.

There aren’t ragdolls in HL1. Only HL: Source.

Sorry for being off-topic, but when the HELL did you become a virgin!?

When he never had sex, I’d imagine. It’s the most common method.

Somehow I think that the joke was that you can’t BECOME a virgin…

Bingo.

On-topic, there should be a segway in BlackMesa for Gordon to ride around on :stuck_out_tongue:

Somehow I think I realised that.
:mono:

That would be an AWESOME prop to have around for the Black Mesa security, like most small quasi-urban police forces have on hand these days. They were unveiled in 2001, after all, so the dating is good.

I like that idea!
It would only work doring the tram ride tho… there isn’t really enough space to drive around in a segway in the corridors before the resonance cascade IIRC.

What’s the latest version of source modders can use for SP games anyway? I remember talking to the devs about Neotokyo and they said that theirs they could only go as high as the Episode 1 version of source without a lot of shader effects, multicore support, HDR, motion blur, updated netcoding, ect.

The latest version is the orange box version of the engine. So the one that is used in episode 2, TF2 and Portal.

If the player dicks around too long, VOX should say something like:

“Attention. Gordon. Freeman: Report. To. Sector. C. Test. Chamber. Immediately.”

I belieive it did in original half life… no real reason for it not to do so in Black Mesa…

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
