Somebody brought up a good point. I can understand there being sandbagged positions constructed by the HECU, but how did they get those MG bunkers and Rocket turrets in there?
They put the MG there and built the sandbags around it?
How about they put the two together? A door, not locked, but with a caved in hallway behind it.
OK, I see what you’re saying. But something like tripmines, which they wouldn’t carry around as standard issue equipment, they would need to break a crate for. But then you’d probably need special dialog, animations, etc. so this idea is probably much more complex than I thought. Oh well.
What area are you talking about? There where no MG nests on the cliff face.
To my knowledge a lot of special forces carry claymore mines, so it isn’t much of a stretch that they would carry the tripmines. Though why they’d make the blue laser tripwire visible, I don’t know.
I thought the blue laser was only visible through the HEV suit/Gordons magical glasses. Hence why no-one else appears to notice them (not even the soldiers) and will run straight through them. :freeman:
I don’t even want to know, Ram. I just don’t want to know.
Even better! Remember people, it’s an unstable cliff, parts are giving out all the time when the player is there. A marine got crushed on that side of the bridge.
It’d be funny as hell if they did notice them, like last minute.
“Run! Get to cover! blip blip blip OH SHI-” and the rest is obvious.
Are they going to correct the Grenade Launcher on the MP5? They used the wrong model. The US Military doesn’t use the GP-25 (pretty sure that’s what it is), they use the M203 (see below).
It’s a fictional faction of the U.S army, and thus they can use whatever the hell they want.
As Floyd said, they can use whatever they want. Also, I don’t know enough about guns to say for sure, but I’d expect BM is using the M203, it’s what the Grunts in HL used. If not, someone will make an MP5 closer to the original. Use that there skin once it’s made.
Well, the BM MP5 is using what appears to be a Russian GP-25 Grenade Launcher. In Half Life (as well as real life) the US Military uses the M203.
It’s a blocky model with a texture that looks like someone made it on Paint. You can guess what it is with reasonable accuracy, but I doubt the majority of people care enough. Who knows why BM chose to go with the Russian design, but I think the point being made was that they’re a fiction section of the U.S army and therefore they don’t have to conform to real-life equipment.
This has been discussed to death many times (inb4 over 9000 times)
If you don’t like it, suck it up and live with it. If the lack of realism really bothers you that much, download a skin from fpsbanana and mod the game so you only have 2 weapons, can have iron sights, and can lean and crawl.
I would also quote ramizeroid here, but I don’t remember the “It’s a fucking video game. From 1998. With Aliens in it. Being remade by a bunch of creepy old nerds.” But it’s something to that effect.
That’s one heck of a small M203.
The real reason they’re using the Russian launcher is because it looks good with the MP5. The M203 is too big and makes it look unbalanced. HECU aren’t a real service so they can use whatever equipment they need, just like how a lot of special forces use multinational weapons.
It is a Russian GP-25 grenade launcher on a German H&K MP5. The United States Military uses a few weapons made by forgien gun manufacturers. The M9 9mm pistol is made by Beretta which is Italian. The M240 7.62x51mm machinegun and the M249(SAW) 5.56x45mm machinegun are both made by Fabrique Nationale Herstal which is Belgian. We usually don’t use weapons manufactured by warsaw pact countries, but the SF does whatever they want. Hell some special forces guys carry AK-47s instead of M-4s.
Well, you got me there. Special Forces do sometimes make use of weaponry that the rest of the military don’t use.
^This. It is also, I suspect, the reason Valve still kept the suppressor on the model of the MP5 even after they decided not to have it be silenced. It makes the barrel area longer and actually come out to the same length as the M203. The BM devs chose a different route to achieve the same goal of making the gun look cool, and I prefer the use of a slightly unusual grenade launcher to having a non-working silencer on the end, personally.
Ugly MP5 + M203 (yes I know it’s only airsoft):
Supressed MP5 + M203 (like HL):
BM’s awesome solution:
aahhhh sex in digitalized form
