Got a Quick Suggestion? - Small suggestions that don't need their own thread

I love the idea of the baby Barnacles clustered around in corners or near adult ones. It’s a good way to increase immersion and give certain areas of the game a ‘creepier feel’. I wouldn’t mind if I saw them in Xen or on Earth (As long as on Earth it’s past Residue Processing if only for time-frame feasibility)

It would be a bit easier to implement than some other crazy ideas… Like my underwater one.

Because nothing says creepy quite like babies. :meh:

No wonder they act drunk all the time.

Most of the creatures from HL1 was in HL2 and one point or another, but cut because of gameplay issues, and not because of the story.

I know, but it has to be reconciled with the story as well. The citizens aren’t really going to be using a gameplay decision as the reason why their legs aren’t being chewed off by bullsquids any more. :stuck_out_tongue:

They’re one and the same. Valve’s policy on the story that isn’t told in the game is that it’s not set in stone in any way. Therefore you’re unable to prove or disprove any fan theories.

I think it would be more fun and impressive, if the gluon gun would leave an effect on hit NPCs, like inflaming them.

Doesn’t make it true, though. So I have every right to argue it.

Yer bullsquid are still around:

@ Floyd
Also, this isn’t really shown in the game, but I assume it’s still canon? :stuck_out_tongue:

The only creatures from HL1 that were cut from HL2 were the Bullsquid and Houndeye and to a degree the Ichthyosaur. That’s hardly ‘most’. But yes, they were cut due to gameplay issues.

I agree that “most” was stretching it, but you are forgetting the tentacle and the gargantua. Their files are still in the source code.

Surely the only HL1 enemies in HL2 are the headcrab and the barnacle?

At the time of the half-life 2 leak, the files for basically everything from half-life 1 was in the code. Even the uncompiled maps. And I doubt they intended to use that.

That wasn’t my point. Feel free to argue it as much as you like though.

And the leeches.

Thats because now you are fighting the combine and not the nihilanth and his minions

And the vorts, lets not forget them

You’re all forgetting the zombie. Though I suppose that falls under headcrab.

My thoughts exactly. So, that’s four. In HL1 there are also the tentacles, the garg, the houndeyes, the bullsquids, the manta rays, the controllers and the alien grunts. Oh, and the Nihilanth and that testicle monster thing.

So, yeah. Rather a lot of enemies were taken out, even if you discount the Nihilanth and testicle thing because they seem one of a kind.

I suppose they could be in Combine holding pens or something, waiting to be turned into another weapon.

Also, to me, I really only take what’s in the games into account canon-wise, as things they’ve said elsewhere could be probably changed if they decide a better way to explain things in the game. That’s just me, though. I also prefer the MINERVA explanation for the poison headcrabs; it seems more plausible.

Regardless, this is getting kind of off topic.

What was the MINERVA explanation? I don’ty remember them explaining where they came from when I played it.

I knew I’d forgotten one. I sat there for a minute trying to remember, but couldn’t.

Yeah, I was counting zombies as being under headcrabs.
