No, the laser guide in all HL games is just that; a laser pointer that the missile tracks. The missile never guides itself independantly.
that’s the whole fun in the RPG. tracking your victim with the laser pointer.

I’m not sure where it would fit in, but I’d love to see a gameplay sequence where the lights go out, possible in OC. Half-Life 2 and Episode 1 both had memorable sequences in the dark, and the use of the player’s torch made these events incredibly tense.
I’d also love to see a scripted sequence where a security guard uses the torch/flashlight on his utility belt in some form, possibly in conjuncture with his gun, or else it’s a scripted sequence where he tries to turn on the lights, gets jumped by a headcrab, the torch falls to the floor and rests so that it casts giant shadows of guard’s spasms on the wall. Either that or he’s simply a stationary NPC set to perform an action and the torch just looks cool.
I loved that bit in Episode 1 (I think, might have been Ep2, can’t remember) where you had to get the car, and as you progressed in that level, you entered this room that had a Zombine banging on the door, and when you went in, the lights went out and the door behind you closed, as well as the sound going completely silent. That was a great moment.
