Got a Quick Suggestion? - Small suggestions that don't need their own thread

Maybe it wasn’t mentioned at all, but Valve has linked it to the same time period in the HL Universe. The Black Mesa incident took play somewhere after the year 2000. Not 1998. And about the V-22, well you didn’t say anything about it. You just started talking about Jets instead.

I don’t know if it’s canon, but didn’t the calenders say that it was December 200X?

That’s part of my argument, yes.

What I mean about the jets is that since HL1 wasn’t accurate concerning those fighter planes, they might not be accurate about the V-22 either. They just used whatever looked coolest I assume

Yeah, but they also use some kind of command line OS for all their work, and the computers themselves are from the 80’s, so it about evens out.

Facts about which type of monitor the BMRF used aside, I personally like the old school look of the CRT monitors running Win98.

Besides, the Win98 can be a bit of an homage to the fact that HL1 was released in 98

Yeh but time is relative so It may be a few years wrong…:3

…what?

He’s saying that it might happen In 201X, I think.
CRT Monitors should stay either way. Only Breen would have a newer one, since they’re using them for work.

The time in which HL1 takes place is 200X so it could be 2000-2009, NOT 2010-2019!

Maybe they kept their CTR’s cause they still work and the decided to spend their money on more important things…like science.

Unless you’re working in a brand new workplace or a graphics design/game developer workplace, you’ll be sitting in front of a CRT screen

CRT monitors are very robust and have higher longevity, especially compared to early LCD screens which suffered from awful black levels and corrupt pixels.

Have you actually played Portal? GLaDOS says about how much the world has changed outside, amongst other things. I’m pretty sure she’s not talking about the invention of DVD.

Your point?

I think we’ve drained all we can out of this whole CRT monitor business.

His point is that she’s referring to the resonance cascade’s affect on the world… outside.

The scientists at Black Mesa filled their CRT screens with helium to improve the pixel quality with SCIENCE. The added benefit of course is less weight and more mobility. The scientists also have a good old time throwing their screens around.

Sounds like a party. :stuck_out_tongue:

Personally I dont see a issue with the monitors. After all the facility is a old decomissioned missle base. Personally to me its only logical that there will be vintage (old) equipment around in some areas.

So I wouldnt worry bout the monitors the only thing I would worry or wonder about is if friendly NPCs can be killed in the mod like in HL1 or if it will be like HL2. Personally I think it would be better if you can kill friendly NPCs, would force you to be careful where you discharge your weapon at.

If this already been answered before then I must have over looked it. I did multiple searches and even looked through the FAQ and didnt run across anything like this.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
