Gordon Freeman on the DS

Hey guys i decided to create a DS game cause of the developers of Black Mesa Source, you’ve inspired me!! Well the game i am making is basically HL but on the DS as a platform game. The game is called
HALF LIFE: The Quest for the Cabbage Cassarole :freeman:
Basically its a normal day at work and he felt a little peckish so he went to put his cassarole in the microwave and went to the bathroom as he waited for the cassarole to finish cooking. When he was done with his business HIS CASSAROLE WAS MISSING!!!
heres a preview pic:

Thoughts anyone?

Way better idea than the one that other jerk tried to make. I’d buy a DS if you finished this.

Out of curiosity, what did “the other jerk” try and make?

Flat. So flat. Look up some pixel tutorials, and that font must go.

And I hope that Gordon is part of a turning animation or something. Don’t ever do platformers where the protagonist is facing you.

Oh no, the reason why its facing you is because that sprite is the basic of creating one that turns left, jumping, and holding weapons and shooting. It really is just for show at the moment but in the final build i wont be making him face you. I already have the sprite turning left, but i have not made any walking animation to it yet, it takes a while to make one, took me hours to create taht background and sprite alone.

Heres a pic of gordon next to his tram, that tram took atleast 2hrs to make

zomg grodon deonst have teh SUV suit at tat point in teh gaem! fixplzunrealistic

i havent drawn the sprite of him in a normal labcoat yet, this is just a test level anyways, it will be polish a bit

Oh and BTW im not a pixal artist as you can tell, i used some textures just off HL maps. Sounds and textures will be off of Half life so valve takes all the credit for that.

Well.
The tram has pixels like 2 times as large as the rest of the mockup, but I see you already started fixing it.
It’s really big. 4.5 Gordons. Cut the size.
It seems like the cart is at an perspective, when the rest of it is facing dead on. I’d recommend doing the dead-on style first, but you definetly shouldn’t mix the two.
The cable is misaligned.

This should be in “Show Off” too.

Looking good. The tram looks a bit big, though. :freeman:

what can i say im not a pixal artist, and yeah the tran was a perspective, i tried to not make it look that way cause i was altabbing between HL and adobe photoshop.

you didn’t have the brilliant idea of taking a screenshot to avoid the alt-tabbing? :stuck_out_tongue:

i did take screenshots, but i alt tabbed instead cause i wanted to get as much detail as i could inside the tram.

You don’t need to justify why you get critique. Denying and explaining why you made the flaws doesn’t make your work better. Listening to critique and thinking how can you improve based on it does.

I’d suggest you’d take a look at some pixeling tutorials.

Complete remake of Half-Life.

thats what i was doing last night, redoing the tram lol. and trying to redo the gordon cause it feels like hes a midgit in my game cause the background is so big. I need more people to criticize my game anyways, its the only way i can improve thanks patonki

and i cant stop staring at your sig, what is that??

You need to be a pixel artist.

Sorry, i don’t have any constructive criticism but questions:|

1.will there be all the weapons that half-life had?
2. will you make any new weapons? (i.e minigun or plasma cannon or something)
3. same as the first 2, but about enemies instead.
4. when about do you think it will be finished?
5. will the journey mainly be through the original half-life? or will it be different?

Save yourself the £150 and use this for a try-out :pirate:

Simple: Play Codename Gordon :expressionless:
.

sorry for the late reply, i’ve been busy

1 &2. Yes and maybe some new ones
3.Same enemies, but i will add ones that does not make sense in the hl universe for fun.
4. Probably in a year or so depends how nice college will be to me.
5.Half will probably be in the orignal HL but the rest will probably be made up, i will include XEN
