google Os

https://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8139711.stm

So I was wondering what everyone was thinking about this new OS, or if you hadn’t heard about it, it’s here. personally, I’m confident they can pull off something respectable, but as a small scale operating system. they have experience
.

How many leet-bix do you eat every day, Ram?

I do over 9000 of these every morning.

I think it’s an interesting experiment. Eventually more and more stuff is going to move towards the web and away from desktops, and it looks like Google want to be a player in the OS market once that happens. Not sure how the “the browser is the os” idea will work, but I’ll be interested to see how it plays out.

I meant more in terms of the browser being the place where apps live, rather than the Program Files or /bin folder.

Well that transfer is already well under way.

PS fixed the OP’s link.

Hence “more and more stuff”. Geez, it’s like you people are deliberately misreading me :stuck_out_tongue:

…just look at GMail and Google Docs and the upcoming Google Waves for examples.

Huh? I just responded to what you said, not my fault if you can’t express yourself properly. :stuck_out_tongue:

I didn’t realise the link was buggered. Cheers Bean, that’s what I get for doing it ingame
.

Too many 'http’s.

From the TWHL forums

I dunno. I’m not trading in my XP for anything if I can help it. And I doubt that anything google makes will be free for much longer.

I saw this coming a few years ago. I bet my dad doesn’t remember, but I totally told him “I bet google will make an OS some day”, and he was like “no, they’ll stick with their internet blah blah blah”.

I totally called it.

I also though Google had release a new app or a legitimate cereal called “Google-O’s”
ON TOPIC:
I read about this on LH a while ago. It’s a distro version of linux and that’s all they really know at this point. It was mostly a “what users want to see in the OS” post. But I do know that gOS 3.1 SP1 recently came out which is what i’m using for linux and VirtualBox at the moment.

Only 1337? I have OVER NINE THOUUUUSSSSAAAANNNNDDDD!!!

WHAT NINE THOUSAND? THAT CAN’T BE RIGHT!

You should see the size of the bowl.

Aproximatly, whats its size in diamiter? I assume its something along the lines of -WHAT NINE THOUSAND!

lol, i smell so much off topicness.

[COLOR=‘Red’]And it smells bad.

2-day bump, I know but I just want to say that it better not be like Google Chrome.
That thing was advertised as super fast and usefull, yet in the end it was slower and buggier. For example, google said that the browser wouldn’t crash, but would instead close the non responding tabs, that would be pretty cool if it didn’t close all the tabs, therefore closing the browser.
