Haha, why’d you have to spoil it! Even James was having a go earlier! haha =]
Nice way to start the next page B) .
Another really good MANGA (not anime) is 20th Century Boys, though I haven’t got around to reading the entire thing.
Someone mentioned Avatar on the first page.
Not sure if you can count Avatar as pure anime, but it combines some nice animation with western storytelling. I actually enjoyed that show, but then they stopped airing it on cable over here, and I couldn’t be arsed to check it out at some later point.
I like Avitar as in “the last airbender”. I am unsure if it qualifies, but yeah.
yes, I was talking about The Last Airbender.
I also noticed they’re making a live action movie of it. I’m pretty sure there’ll be another part of me that will die upon seeing it.
Other than the fact they cast an all asian character list with anything BUT asian people, I am rather looking forward to seeing it with my 12 year old.
I used to watch it, but I gradually lost interest in it. I could probably get back into it if I tried.
We watched the last of it just the other day. Aang and Katara kissed and I was like “wth? he is shorter than her tho.” I look over and my kid is grinning. I chuckled.
I saw it last month, it was stupid and I wouldn’t watch it again.
And when I watch something I mean every single episode, one by one. It’s not like I had anything important to do.
Eh, Avatar was sorta interesting but it just lacked anything to keep me coming back to watch it.
By fight club I mean kung fu and training to fight other people. Kind of like Dragon Ball Z. Maybe I’m mistaken and the animes you mentioned aren’t liike that. I’ll give monster a try.
DBZ story arcs are like this;
characters meet bad guy
bad guy and goku go at it
Goku gets his ass handed to him
goku trains in the spirit world
vegeta fights bad guy (takes eleven episodes)
vegeta gets cocky, gets ass handed to him
bad guy charges up attack(ten episodes more)
Goku appears and kicks HIS ass
they all go home happy 1 ally short and a few in bad shape.
You know, I may not like anime that much, but could get into it if there was a “Phoenix Wright” anime. That would kick so much ass!
fix’d
Easier this way.
Yeah, neither One Piece or HXH are anything like DBZ. They each have their own fighting styles that are very unique.
One Piece has fruits called Devil Fruits that, when eaten, give you special powers. There are three types:
Logia - Allows transformation into something found in nature. Ex: Lava, fire, smoke, light, etc.
Zoan - Allows transformation into an animal. Ex: Dog, falcon, bull, snake, etc.
Paramecia - Anything that doesn’t fit into the other categories. Ex: Becoming made of rubber, being able to make wax, being able to turn your limbs into scissors, etc.
The side effect is that once you’ve eaten one of them you can no longer swim. They’re all used pretty well, and it makes for some interesting fights. From left to right, the powers of the people in my sig are: Light, Magma, and Ice.
Now, the HXH fighting is a little more complex. Here’s something that explains it. It’s probably the most in-depth fighting system in any anime.
Berserk is pretty realistic when it comes to fighting, though there are a lot of demons that they have to fight.
Monster is pretty much 100% realistic, mostly guns are used but there are no full-out fight scenes or anything in it.
The words “good” and “anime” doesn’t fit in the same sentence.
Then get the fuck out of this thread.
The words “coherent” and “good grammar” don’t fit into any of your sentences either.
Neon Genesis: Evangelion and Death Note still get my two votes. I’ve heard very good things about Black Lagoon, and I’m currently watching Dragonball Kai (which is a remake of Dragonball Z but with substantially less filler).
I didn’t think much of Black Lagoon, it was very cliche. If you liked Death Note then try Code Geass. It’s got the same kind of intricate clever plot, but with more emotion and the characters are far more likable.
Agreed. Code Geass is very good and while not the same as Death Note, has a very detailed and elaborate plot with an intelligent main character like Death Note.
I’ve watched and liked Death Note, Code Geass, Wolf’s Rain, Gundam Seed, and Gundam Seed Destiney. There are a few others but I didn’t enjoy them as much.
For me, the big killer in Avatar: The Last Airbender was the ending. Just as the final few episodes were being released my friend showed me a series of shorts about why Katara and Zuko should get together and I ended up watching them all and agreeing by the end so when they didn’t end up together it was a bit of a bummer… That, and the final episode seemed a bit rushed and anticlimactic to me. Not sure why a rock to the back suddenly fixes a locked avatar state when he still gets the girl he was suppose to give up in the end.
