Though the stealth component of the game was pretty par for the course and nothing special, I loved Beyond Good & Evil… Now I’m just patiently waiting for more news on the sequel over 6 years later and nothing more than a teaser >_>…

Stealth games can be good if done right. There’s a fine line between a good sneaky game and one that brings plenty of rage upon being spotted. Some Hitman missions had this effect on me.

Hah, Thief’s stealth mechanisms are so antiquated. I had a guy standing literally right in front of me and I wasn’t detected. Fun game though.

Good point. I always loved to play Far Cry with a silenced MP5, machete and sniper rifle as my three token weapons of choice. It’s good because even if you are spotted, the strategy isn’t ruined as in some games. You simply shoot as many as you can, pick the machete, being the lightest weapon, and sprint away.

Thief = best
Hitman = best
Splinter Cell = double best
MGS = not really stealth, because you can run around wearing combat boots waving your arms like a fucking helicopter and no one will notice you unless you are like six inches away from them

Agreed to a certain extent. Yes, MGS1 was more/less like that, though, the stealth component of each subsequent sequel was certainly improved however.

If in terms of sheer sneaking, than yes. Otherwise, however, SC is fucking bland.
