I want to know how to take this image, cut the hat out of it, and paste it over my avatar using gimp. Oh, and flip it left right so the hat slants correctly.

Can anyone tell me how to do that or just show me a good tutorial for it? I’d be fine with someone doing it for me, btu I also kind of want to learn how.

Use the wand tool and click on the white space that you don’t want. It should select everything but the hat. Then go to Select -> Invert and it’ll select the hat. Copy it then paste it into your avatar. You might have to resize it.

How do I invert it so the hat slants the other way? Also, when I select the hat, there is a white part inside of the hat that doesn’t get selected. And finally, when I paste it into my avatar, how do I grab it and move it around?

EDIT: got it to flip.
EDIT2: got everything but I need to fill in the transparent part with the bucket tool, but when I try and bucket it it has a dotted line around the hat and nothing happens.

To invert it click the mirror button in the toolbox then click the picture and it should mirror it the other way. When you paste it into the other image you should just be able to move it around by default. If not then click on the move too.

It selecting a part inside the hat is a problem though.

Edit: You might have to manually go through and correct some of the selected stuff using some of the other selection tools. Sorry I can’t help anymore, maybe someone else may be able to.

I’ve got this now and I need to fill in th e red parts where the hat was transparent.

The paintbrush tool is your friend :smiley: . Though you might be able to select those parts it’ll probably be a pain in the ass.

k, Thanks, I’ll give it a shot.

EDIT: I used the wand to select the bad parts, how do I color everything within what I have selected?

Select what color you want to fill with and put it as the main color. Then do Edit -> Fill with Primary Color or something like that and it should fill with whatever color you picked.
