Ghosts

I don’t argue that the lack of evidence is proof that they don’t exist. I’m saying that there’s no evidence that has ever been provided that they DO exist. There are these claims of evidence that do not stand up under scrutiny (orbs, etc) but no actual evidence for their existence.

I can say that there is a 99% of chance that ghosts don’t exist but I just can’t say for a fact that there isn’t a 1% of chance that they do.

There is no empirical evidence that support both.

There are nearly an infinite amount of things that could exist (sentient mattresses, depressed robots, multi-limbed creatures that invent the deodorant before the wheel, etc) but unless you have some evidence they DO exist, why should I bother with “evidence they don’t exist”.

Like I said, falsifiability. “There are no green swans” doesn’t require evidence, but is easily falsified by producing a green swan. “There is a green swan” requires evidence.

My head hurts.

So, yeah, ghosts don’t exist.

The closest I came to witnessing a ghost is when objects spontaneously go missing from my room while I’m there and all the doors are closed.

My mom says she hears noises, I hope I never reach that level of insanity.

someone in my class is seeing shadows and hearing sounds. she told me when the shadow walked past the cd player, it lagged.

Ghosts exist, but you have to believe. :3

My mum said she found a ghost in a friend’s kitchen one night so she told it to go away and it did.
She may have been seeking attention, though, so I wouldn’t take it as proof of existence.

Out of interest, what would the people on this forum accept as evidence of ghosts’ existence?

“Unexplained” ≠ “Ghosts”

I once flicked a rubber band off my finger and it vanished. I mean, it was nowhere to be found. To this day, I don’t know where it went. Doesn’t mean it was ghosts, though. Or it phasing into another plane of existence. Or being captured by rubber-band loving space aliens. Or…well, who knows what else?

As for evidence of a ghost’s existence, well, first “ghost” must be defined because each person has their own definition. What does a “ghost” even LOOK like? “Orbs”? A wisp of smoke in the vague shape of a person? A glowing green “Onionhead”? Someone under bedsheets?

looks legit

Yeah, that was pretty much my point.

undeniable proof of ghosts would be if someone dies and then you find an encrypted file and a voice tells you the password that only the dead person knew

But wait, you have to first believe there is a spiritual realm in order to believe in ghosts. Is it so amazing that folks dont believe in ghosts when they also dont believe in a spiritual realm… who also happen to not believe in God?

Seem to be rather logical to me.

EDIT: Just remember, Catz: Just because one does not believe in God does not necessarily mean that they don’t believe in ghosts or an afterlife. Just sayin’.

You know what. never mind.

I hope I didn’t offend. It wasn’t my intention.

DSG, you know what I believe?

I believe you’re overthinking this.

Howso?

booo

that’s why.

I don’t belive either way about ghosts. It’s become popular to scream bullshit whenever something gets witnessed without evidence, so the two warring factions of people who have “witnessed” something VS Popular opinion destroy any potentially usefull information, leaving us with local happenings to work with. Unfourtunately, I haven’t an official haunted house particularily near by, (The nearest one is over three hours away) with which to test anything so we are going to be in the dark for a while, unless I decide to take a trip one day.

But even if I were able to provide live video and picture evidence of eight ghosts walking through a wall, everyone would just think that I was one of those weird ghost freaks, and shrug the evidence off as a clever hoax or something, so…

take lots of drugs, ghosts are attracted to them
