Man, why hasn’t any news site reported this? When do they check their tips boxes?
I’ve been wondering the same thing.
Torrents will be the best option since the more people who are downloading the faster it’ll go.
30/35%. I actually half expected it to be up to 40% by the time I got home today.
Then we’ve caught Slender’s bugged bar. Whoo-ooh!
EDIT: It seems the bugged bar is back to 0%… what’s going on?
I see what you did there
Seems like bad planning to have Plan A based upon a possibility but Plan B on confirmed info.
Black Mesa just keeps on climbing. And I doubt any news sites will report on this. Of course it’d be great, but it seems a tad out of place for them to post, "Hey, this game comes out in a week! Also, you can help put it on Steam! Sure there’s all these other games with the same goal but still, Black Mesa!
I’m assuming the download link will be on the landing page?
Either way, it was pretty awesome to see it climb to the top VERY quickly.
My plan starts with the mirror link, because alas, I cannot torrent .
You talk like there are standards in gaming journalism.
Maybe we should start a “Send an e-mail to valve” campaing asking for BM on steam.
AUUUGGGGHHHH Its like watching a RoughRider game you just know you should give up but for some stupid reason you never do…
Doesn’t hurt to pretend.
Man, what is up with these quantum percentages?
Anyways, this is very interesting.
Why? It’s not hard.
Step 1: Download BitTorrent (or other preferred torrent client)
Step 2: Install BitTorrent (or other preferred torrent client)
Step 3: Download actual torrent file (made available by the person hosting the main download)
Step 4: Double-click on torrent file. (Or launch the torrent client and add the torrent file manually. You might even be able to drag the file right into the client window.)
Step 5: Impatiently watch download progress or do something else in the meantime.
If you’re not allowed to have a torrent client installed on the computer, that’s different.
It’s also possible that the ISP blocks the torrent ports.
Have none of you ever had a grandma that told you: “A watched pot never boils” ?
Scientifically speaking, I am not so sure that this theory has legs, though…
And duh, earlier I put plans [1] [2] [3] about downloads… which makes it look like steps… what the hell was I thinking… er… I meant [A] [B] [C]
That would be miserable.
My plan:
- If available, download on Steam. Slower, but more complete. (Unlikely to happen by the release date IMO.)
- TORRENT! Speeds will be amazing.
- Pray to the mirror gods.
And even if it is available on Steam, I might torrent it first anyway and come back and do an official install later.
We’ll see. I still doubt I’ll have to make that decision though… but a lot can happen in a week!
That was great!.. I am a huge sci-fi guy, but never watched any but original Star Trek… I know, I know…
