Heh. I wouldn’t mind running in front of the gargantua over and over again for that.
Me too
There is an achievement system implemented in BM. But please let’s not get back into the habit of inventing/suggesting achievements for BM. Creating achievements is surely far too much fun for the devs to want to let us do it for them.
No kidding? I figured it was some wishful thinking on the part of the Xboxers (when they started the Achievements thread before the crash).
And yeah, I’d hate to deprive them of the great fun.
I’ll take this time to suggest ninja editing these posts before people catch on and do so anyways (start thinking up achievements that is).
Raminator has confirmed on more than one occasion that even before the Orange Box SDK gave them the built in ability to do achievements, they’d already figured out their own way to do them. And if anyone starts suggesting achievements again, I’ll flay them alive.
i like this idea alot but i think it wouldnt be included as it wasnt in the original half-life 1. Maybe the screen goes funny like when you meet and advisor
That seems more like something you would see before you fight the Nihilanth.
I want the Garg to have the ability to punt kick when the player gets too close. All the way to the end of the room or whatever there is. And then perhaps send a ground shockwave right after.
Yeah, it desperately needs more attacks.
The main thing that got me with the Garg was the way it moved. If in a confined space it looked a little odd. Until it killed me :meh:
Hm, good point. I always felt that having the Gargantua run on two legs would have been impossible in real life, as there’s just so much weight on the upper part of his body. I know it’s not real and there may well be some imaginary explanation for it, seeing as it’s science fiction, but it looked extremely odd.
I think perhaps having the Gargantua move on all fours would be an interesting option, like a gorilla or a large ape. Someone once suggested that the Garg simply looks made for rolling like an armadillo. It would be interesting to play around with, as his running animations in the original were laughable. Of course you could simply put more effort into his animations than Valve did, but I think a different way of moving could be an interesting solution.
You could use dogs animations on the garg - would look awesomely intimidating in the parking lot scene!
Or make him walk slower! I say it was a pure fun, to watch the garg sprint from point A, to point B. It was like his mass, disappeared during the run and he was headed for the gold! But then again, the scientist used a similar, running animation.
Would it be too hard to have the Gargantua rip something off the wall, such as a pipe or something else, and through it through the control room window if the player haphazardly goes there before turning on the power generator?
It could some through the window and hit above the player head and break something on the wall, or just make a big divot into the wall?
Roar dazing effect would be pretty neat, but i guess its up to BM devs to put it in or not.
Besides im sold on BM regardless of what the devs do, even if BM’s garg did a care bear stare, i’d still play it and enjoy.
The ground stomp is essentially a care bear stare except with less care and more hurt.
Crazy little suggestion here since this thread seems to allow general Gargantua suggestions.
I think the run down the tunnel towards the Generator needs props, props that allow for some minor platforming on the part of the player, and some definite smashing out of the way action on part of the Gargantua.
I suppose this would mostly come in the form of large chunks of rubble from the ceiling (perhaps large pipes that formerly housed major conduits?), anything that would make it something more than a free and clear run and add a terrifying nature (moreso than just having the Garg on your heels) to that section. As, you know, that’s pretty well the end of power up.
I like that idea actually.
Like it too and plausible when sometimes in the level we heard the garg smashing things and few concrete escape from the ceiling.
^
I actually meant to add that as the precedent for what would otherwise have seemed like random rubble placement (that’s what I get for late night posting). But since that whole section is shaking (whether from Garg or the madness happening on the surface) I figured it would fit in decently.
I just really felt the initial Gargantua encounter was really lackluster when compared to the one in the parking garage (amazing) and the one on Xen, where you actually see it smash through rubble.
Yeah, perhaps even some debris blocking your way, making you jump over it. Something making you stop with a Garg right behind you would be FREAKY! Just like InterloperX suggested.
