Gaming Habits!

Go on, post your gaming habits here!

  1. They can be in-game,
  2. They can be in real life due to a game (slightly odd).
  3. Or they can be real habits that have become in-game.

Let’s try and stick to number 1, as 2 and 3 are the crazy things that get people locked up in jail, with signs on their foreheads saying “DO NOT BREED!”.

So my example of a habit is reloading almost after every kill.

Also I have seen people that say “lol” when they can easily laugh???

Ever since 1997, Ibegan to think I knew how to kill people.

Ever since Metal Gear Solid I have been audibly grunting noises that signify any suspicion. Just like Snake.

  1. I go everywhere I can, and do not leave an area if I didn’t see everything I could. Good thing it didn’t become a real life habit.

I do that as well.

And, the first thing I do when I play a game is I turn off the music. I would rather hear the environmental sounds than some syle of music that doesn’t interest me.

I will often just jump around for long periods of time, just brainlessly jumping and jumping.

Most often in games like Oblivion, Fallout 3 or InFamous.

I sometimes feel obliged to manually give sound effects to things I’m doing.
E.g: When I break a pencil, I say ‘snap’.

Not sure how this is related to video games though…

Hehehe, I do the same thing. I smash all crates, destroy all boxes and also crowbar all windows. Gotta make a stand, y’know.

Something I noticed today is that I am a save-maniac. I save before opening doors, before jumping into vents, or before talking to NPCs. I guess I’m too used to my computer crashing all the time, and I don’t want to lose my progress just because the video card sucks.

I do that all the time too.
Ever since I learned about quicksave, my life has never been the same.

If I play online I never say much I just play the game this doesn’t work so well in Left 4 Dead or in mmo’s. I was kicked from a L4D server for getting myself killed because I just ran off and forgot to say what I was doing.

I sometimes find ways to supplement my own music into games worked best with oblivion and morrowind were I could change the different kinds of music simply by adding more to music to the different folders.

Blasting my surround sound so loud my mom constantly thinks she hears thunder.

Reloading after any and every shot for the most part unless i get distracted. I also shot aimlessly to make my ammo even.

Same about the saves. It Is worse when Im playing oblivion. I will literally walk across the market district and save three time. but thats only if im not really thinking though. reloding after evrey shot is bad to. I don’t use the Para on C strike because of it. kept getting killed.

I do the opposite. I rarely save, and end raging because I got killed (OOO on default difficulty is fuckin’ hard) and have to restart from 30 mins ago.

true true

Sitting on the floor playing a racing game: Leaning into the turns.
Damn, I can’t believe we’re 10 posts in and nobody mentioned this yet.

I’ve got an unfortunate habit now of preparing stashes of supplies, potential weapons, around the house as was useful in STALKER. I’ve got three right now (one with a crowbar, the second with a ranged tool, and the third with a ranged weapon AND a scimitar). I am not counting the large metal pipe, I consider that to be salvage materiel.

I also have a satchel containing basic first-aid, three flashlights, two pocket-knives, a small mirror and a bicycle reflector, two packs of matches (one fully waterproof), some flint, a small umbrella, a pocket-lighter, and a few packets of sugar with a couple of tea bags to make rainwater more potable.

^ I know about the racing, but the other stuff… lol
One of my younger relitives actually doges "bullets"when he plays. literally jumping side to side of the monitor when he plays half life and others.

I’m a compulsive explorer. And if there’s a quicksave, I’ll use it a lot.
Since I know about the ‘Q’ key to switch to previous weapon, I always select a weapon combination to face any situation, especially in Half-Life, with teleporting enemies and al that. Ex: I select the shotgun, then the SMG. If some vorts warp in I get my shotgun and blast their faces off.
Sometimes I’ll end up selecting 4 or 5 weapons in a row to get the combination I want. Ex: I want ‘this’ , oh wait, I want ‘this’ as previous weapon, or ‘this’, ok, now I can get ‘this’.

When I was a kid, I was jumping up and down with Mario on Mario Bros (NES)

In any racing game, my main objective is to wipe out the opponents, not finish 1st. Burnout-style.

In RTS games, I like to build huge and organized cities/empires, so I’m the defensive type… In AoE2, I usually build thick walls with 2 or 3 layers, with embedded towers and castles and cool/efficient gate system.

I do that; it’s fun

My “habit” is somewhat trying to “dodge” the bullets… yeah, they’re not real, but it’s fun.

EDIT: I also nod at questions that Alyx asks me in HL2, since I cannot speak.

Also, whenever I play all doors and windows in my living room have to be shut.

True, I’ve got to completely clear out an area, find sectret areas and save every three feet

Better save than sorry I always say :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, when I play shooters, I lean out of the way of bullets IRL. It works really well.
