Games That you were dissappointed with

Personally, I love it. The characters intrigue me (the Meet the… videos) and the graphics are a breath of fresh air in this ‘MAKE EVERYTHING BROWN’ era we’re in. It sure as hell isn’t a realistic kind of game (two opposing teams with their own forts already built facing each other directly across a small river? The hell?) so why not make it unrealistic? I love the look they went with in TF2, and they nailed it.

Oh, your right, Spore. It looked amazing when it was first announced but it was slowly ruined over time before it was finally released.

Resident Evil 5
Halo 3
Halo 2
Doom 3
Bioshock
Star Wars: Force Unleashed
Eric Fong

lol

The game that let me down the most was STALKER Clear Sky. Unlike the first one, they removed a lot of parts of the zone like the bar, pripyat, brain scorcher side of the red forest, and the interior of the chernobly npp, and only replaced them with a small hospital and limansk. Untill they make another oblivion lost type mod for clear sky, shadow of chernobly is better.

Empire: Total War (bug ridden)
Spore (depressingly simple and short)
Crysis (graphics were good, everything else was mediocre at best)
Gears of War (everyone said it was amazing that played it on console…it wasn’t)

This. This, this and more this.

I have never been more disappointed in a game than I was with this.

GTFO
whyyyyyyyyyyy???

Yeah, it’s a shame that Deu Sex didn’t get a proper sequel.

Well, mine:
Prince of Persia T2T (they fucked up the whole franchise)
MGS4 (whatever you say, MGS2 didn’t get a proper sequel)
All NFSes since Underground 2

Retro-reflective zombie shields
annoying enemy AI
odd difficulty curve at around level 4
poor weapon balance
inability to lean and shoot at the same time
too much sniping
Elite Guard / assassins take too much damage/ pain in the ass.
sometimes autosaves right before mission failure
lame story

This. The engine was badass but the game could have been so much better.

Also Quantum of Solace, interesting cover mechanics and multplayer, but meh…

The Force Unleashed.

Especially considering that the simple addition of a crosshair could have actually made utilizing the force powers incredibly fun instead of the frustrating blind throws we ended up with.

Good presentation, story was decent enough but the characters felt immensely contrived.

I really wish Lucasarts could craft the kinds of games they used to.

That much haet for a 10 year old game?

Yes. If your only excuse for not having somthing that would help expand the life of your game is “realism” or “story,” then your a massive retard that shouldn’t be developing games and insteaad should teach physics!
But Free Mode with a few friends is still awesome!

Anyway:
Gears of War 2: The single-player/co-op/horde modes are fantastic! The competative multiplayer however ruined everything with lag and spawning with a shotgun.
Bionic Commando (Next-Gen): Really, the only thing I was really dissapointed about this game was the story. It took memorable characters and made them way too serious. Other than that, if you’ve played Bionic Commando NES or BC: Rearmed, this will be a blast!

The next custom map should be…

Eh, it’s more plausible than an alien overlord tower showing up. It’s not a crime to treat unlikely premises with serious consideration - - in fact, I believe the best possible game to next be made would be TF classes implemented in STALKER’s environment.

That prompted me to imagine playing pyro in L4D… Now that would cool.

heh

Red Faction. There were some cool ideas - particularly the geo-mod technology - but the plot had faaaaaaar too much fluff.

Red Alert 2. Loved the first Red Alert. In fact, I still haven’t completely beaten the campaigns because of how hard they get. The second game shat all over the legacy of the first one.

Audiosurf, interestingly. But then I’ve never been a fan of racing games, so I don’t know why I was expecting to like it.

Bullshit. You don’t have to like the art style, but TF2 is an awesome multiplayer game on PC, and if you reckon it’s aimed at console gamers you clearly haven’t been paying attention - the PC game has been massively expanded, supported and worked upon since release whereas the console versions have barely been touched.

Seconded. It’s one of the most balanced and well-rounded games out there, and Valve are continuing to work on it.

And the art style is a subversion of 1920’s advertising: how the hell is that not cool?

I would love to see a new simulation à la X-Wing Vs. Tie Fighter :frowning:

At first I didn’t like the style so much, because I usually like more “serious” games, but I’ll admit it fits perfectly. Plus, in TFC the characters really just were classes with different weapons, while in TF2 they have different personalities, almost like they really have a soul :3

That would have made the game way too easy. When you lean in RTCW, the enemy cannot see you.

Was this on console? RTCW on the PC autosaves only at the beginning of each level.
