Games for.. Women?

There are also girls who like to play games like Dead Space.

I would like to thank this thread for reminding me that I have Oddworld. I know what I’m doing today!

ooooh oddworld, shit i should have that game and my gameboy pocket handy

Bomber Man
Pacman
Mario bros.
or some sort of this are always kewl for gals and guys.

Explosion man is a fun 2d style platformer with funny graphics with really easy controls.

So, you let your rightly owned piece of property touch your porno box when it should be in the kitchen making you pie? OK then.
Try Tetris, it was the first game that has more female fans than male fans according to nintendo. Also, most of the stupid facebook games tend to appeal to non gamer types.

Osmos is very fun, and Psychonauts is the shit. Audiosurf too. I recently read about CreaVures and Universe Sandbox as well… But then again I’m more of a PC person so I guess not :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, I agree on what has been said before - Portal 2’s coop is fun to play with a partner. Any game with coop would be great

My ex seemed to enjoy the Scott Pilgrim game. But beware- it’s pretty fucking hard. Best played in co-op.

You might want to download PCSX2 (A PlayStation 2 emulator), a controller and a USB converter for it, and get her something like Kingdom Hearts or other similar RPG games. It may just be the girls I know, but most of the girls I know that play video games tend to enjoy RPGs. I think it has something to do with girls generally going for more of a story in their games.

But then again, there are always exceptions to the rule- such as some cool girls I know that play Left 4 Dead. Generally co-op is a good choice since that way you can help them learn the ropes. And then after you’ve helped them do that, they can start kicking your ass. And you’ll feel stupid.

Regardless, think of it this way- she’s your fiance right? So you should know her tastes by now- films, comics, tv, whatever. Try to stick to genres you know she will enjoy. Horror movie junkie? RE5 Co Op or L4D games. LOTR lover, or Harry Potter fan? Find a fantasy RPG or some other kind of game that fits in a setting. But if she likes Twilight, God help you.

i didnt even read the rest of the thread because this is perfect

fuck man
who the fuck cares if shes got a vagina or not, its not going to mean she likes a certain type of game
try fucking asking or maybe actually KNOWING her

like… WOMEN??? playing GAMES??? obviously they dont like the same games as males!!!

females are not a separate fucking species so dont treat them like it

I can’t speak for the others in this thread but I was generally trying to approach the topic along those lines.

My girlfriend has started playing games, started with point-and-click ones: Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Day of the Tentacle, the Monkey Island series. Shes now playing, and LOVING, the Portal games. She also loves the Super Mario Bros series on the SNES, and other (early/old) console games.

If gaming on the mouse/keyboard is too frustrating I’d suggest getting her started on the simpler games (like the way we all started out) just to get used to the controls. The point and click games, things like that. As a seasoned gamer its easy to sit down and just get into a new game, if your girlfriend has never played games before she’ll have to get used to the keyboard first. My girlfriend couldn’t crouch and walk forward at the same when she first started :3 Now she’s loving Portal (and pretty much speed-running it as well, considering how little FPS games shes played :fffuuu  .

Also - get off your fucking high horses. Asking what games a girl would like to play doesn’t mean we’re treating them as a different species, it means we’re asking what games would someone whos never really gamed before would be interested in. How the fuck are you going to ask a non-gamer what their favourite game is? Some of you are so quick to bitch and mount your horse before even thinking about your argument.

I actually guessed all of that from the first post:

and

and

The only people that are going to be pissed off are those that like to take offence at people talking about their gender. And we all know who that is.

All I see is:

  • My girlfriend wants games
  • Shes not a gamer
  • Any suggestions

Yet people have decided its a personal attack on their gender?

Just had a read through the thread and yes, the Monkey Island/Broken Sword (I think Broken Sword is the first game she played on my machine!)/Indiana Jones clickies are a good place to start. Its where I started, gets you used to the controls.

my girlfriend used to play Sims, Age of Empires 2, Icy tower and many kind of Tycoon gamens… :stuck_out_tongue:

If you put it all together it looks like either she hasn’t played before or shes not experienced.

Whether she played games years ago or has never gamed, the point still stands that shes not very experienced with the controls.

Which leads us to suggesting good games for a beginner gamer. Isn’t that the entire point of the thread. Not whether or not she’s ever gamed, but the fact that she isn’t very experienced?

3 women :expressionless: The only one I know of is Fancy, and thats the one I was talking about :fffuuu: I guess I just over-reacted at her reaction :frowning:

Okay, people, calm the fuck down. I think we can put our differences behind us… for science… you monster(s). :stuck_out_tongue:

You’ve all suggested some nice titles. I’ve shown some of these games to my fiance already (there were simply too many suggestions) and she’ll eventually try them all. Thanks for all the help…

Edit: Any way to edit topic’s title to something more fitting? Like: Easy games for PC begginers?

Guess that explains the “Sassy” part.

edit

Cool  Once shes used to the controls I’d suggest seeing if she likes Portal. My girlfriend watched a friend of mine play Portal 2 and she was interested, so she got Portal. Its a brilliant FPS to get started in because if you like puzzle its got that, and the game isn’t too fast paced (i.e. you’re not being shot at all the time  )

Er, whut :expressionless: I’m not surprised theres women on the forums at all? I was making a light hearted joke.

Sassy sounds almost like sexy… :3

Jayjay, quit while you are behind.
