I have it on good authority that G-Man IS the real secret of Monkey Island.
G-Man is a powerful and greedy being who offers to change the world in favour to his master in wage of bottomless pits of treasures. He let’s them play god until someone scraps together enough resources to pay him more. Currently a force wealthier than any other else have him under their control.
The vortigaunts despise the G-man and his ways of making wealth. They believe that it is wrong to let greedy beings have the universes in their fist, and therefore tries to stop him from changing it’s fate.
That is my theory.
Well. Put. :awesome:
My God, that is haiku. :’(
What tipped you off? …the monkeys?
I’m not so sure about that. What is treasure anyway, except a burden of possession that has to be managed, guarded and doled out to get any results?
Are we talking about G-Man or the ultra-fascist international terrorist group known as C.O.B.R.A?
I’ll give you one thing, you’re idea is headed in the right direction… control. Wealth is little more than a means to an end. Reputation and fame are fleeting things, because people will always grow bored and move on. To attain control is the purest form of true power, and G-Man is perfecting the art of controlling without looking like he’s in control… THAT, my friends is truly “playing God.”
Now, I’ll get behind the notion that vortys are opposed to greed. I’m not so convinced that it’s the driving force behind “arresting” G-Man in EP1, but I would agree that they despise those things.
I don’t believe that vortigaunts are necessarily “good” or even like a police force in the multiverse, but I do believe that they are committed to freedom. (how very American!) With humans on the brink of enslavement by the Combine, it seems reasonable that the vortigaunts sympathize with us, therefore they want to fight with us, side by side.
Whether G-Man is “for hire” or not, it’s pretty clear that he wants very much to be the one in control.
He speaks about his “employers” pretty often, and Wallace Breen asks Gordon near the end of Half-Life 2 if he didn’t realise that his services were open to the highest bidder. That is what i’ve based my opinion on.
He’s definietely Daniel Carrington
I mean think about it, he works with aliens, he had his own research institute, he works for the government in alien affairs, hired joanna dark to destroy an alien threat, then after having the UN make a treaty with the greys he went to Black Mesa through the Government to do some research which the greys funded to destroy the combine.
Looks more like Billy Mays…
if he would lose his beard and some weight he would look like Gman.
See what I mean?
no
Not really.
That’s the worst Gimp edit I’ve seen.
all I had to work with was 75 x 75.
The Gman is probably a pedophile that raped alyx when she was a little girl. That’s the relationship.
The G-Man is a GUY! :O!
nO wAe!
G-Man’s identity will probably be revealed in the next game. Since VALVe said they were wrapping this storyline up.
Liars, the mystery of the Half Life series is what keeps it going. Why end it and miss out on all that potential income. What’s more likely is that they’ll put an end to the Combine scenario.
G-Man is Gordon’s Father read something !!!
Valve Interview : Doug Lombardi
So is it all coming to a huge end after Episode III?
Lombardi: We’re gonna wrap it all up, put a bow on it - the G-Man is Gordon’s father… it’s all good.
I made a post about this in a thread on facepunch about hl2eps3 I was comparing gman to a chess player, while the other chess player was in my speculations the voritguants or combine, I mean the vorts are pretty crafty and intelligent…So technically I made the post first :3
Yeah, but Eric made it cool.
That’s a fucking lie, and you know it.
he was being sarcastic.
There is no sarcasm on the internets :3 it’s all srsbsnz
