G-man

G-Man… Jee-Man… J-man… J-sus… JESUS!

G-Man is the Second Coming of Jesus and the Halflife trilogy is an allegory for the endtimes and one man’s journey to the realization of his Christian faith!

G-Man’s identity is irrelevant, what matters most is that you can kill him in Gmod and he keeps the series alive. asd

I never want to know who Gman is.

^----Same. G-man is better off unknown. If we know who he is, then… We won’t see him as G-man. We’ll see him as some ugly old guy with eye bags who stalks us. Part of G-man’s identity being secret is just another part of the story we NEED.

Huh. I’ve done a lot of reading about alien abductions for script research, and I’ve never come across that. Sounds, if you’ll pardon my french, effrayant.

Hey, alright i’l do my theory on the g-man.

To me he seem’s to be a single consciousness, eon’s ahead of our evolution, to what we would see as god-like, albeit not an ‘all loving’ one.

Now what could any species hope to offer the g-man in exchange for his services?

I’d say Xen, i mean for an interdimensional beurocrat, xen is the ultimate tool and most efficient way to travel ( along with many other things ). The nihilanth tried to take control of it, he got wiped out ( not by the people g-man intended though! ) And now that the combine know of the technology the humans possess ( thanks to breen ) they too want a piece. Which would explain g-man’s actions in HL2 against them.

If anyone cares i’l go into further detail, or if you can see some holes.

in my eyes, the Gman serves as the ambassador between Earth and the Combine homeworld, with Xen being the rift or fold between dimensions. His main job is to keep both sides in constant balance.

this means while he manipulates one side, tilting the balance to one side, he does the same to the other. He causes the resonance cascade at BM and allows the Combine to take over Earth, then he sends Gordon to cripple the Combine by taking Breen out of the fray. And now he indirectly caused the death of Eli (he may have actually sent them)

the weights are against Earth now. I would like to see what he does to allow Gordon to gain the upper hand again.

in all this, I see the Gman as a bad guy still.

He clearly has no regard or concern for the human race. It was in his original plans to have the citadel blown up early - which would’ve resulted in the deaths of the thousands of rebels still in City 17. In any case I see him as being alot like Q from Star Trek: Next Generation.

Well no he clearly doesn’t care about the human race. Why would he?

He wanted them wiped out as early as possible so the combine couldn’t get hold of the teleporter technology. I think originaly he would of used freeman to do this, but seen as though the combine found out about the technology ( thanks to breen ) they could make a move on Xen, so the g-man ‘switched’ sides, to teach the combine a lesson ( HL2 ).

if he didnt want the Combine to get ahold of portal technology, then why would he have Gordon open the gateway to Xen in the first place? why not keep it closed?

Because he knew only Gordon/someone from earth could stop the combine, maybe? They have to invade earth first, then the subject he selects from Black Mesa can stop them in the future.

that makes no sense.

G-man makes a lot of business-like decisions, if you ask me. He also knows a lot about vortigaunts. They attack you in HL1, as a reflex. But in HL2, they’re friends. I’m confused about the fact that if they were enemies then, and friends now, how that happened. And if they were any threat to breen and the combine, why he wouldn’t have killed them off, or sent them back to Xen. But, if you really want to find who g-man really is, look at everybody else and they’re reaction to him. Elaborate on that.

Gman is the embodiment of Deus Ex Machina.

name one person who has had a reaction to Gman, besides Eli who is RIP :frowning:

That dude in the window in Anomalous Materials.

Gearbox shows him interacting with a guard in OP4.

haha but how does that show who Gman is?

I wasn’t obligated to find that out. You just said to name one, and there’s one and a half.

Except the G-Man isn’t anywhere near as annoying.
