I would have never known :o
Heh! I like him

Facts:
-
G-Man (Government Man) was ordered to inspect Aperture-Science research facility. When he saw GLaDOS he decided to shut it down because he thought it could be too dangerous.
-
In cause of the first fact GLaDOS flooded the Aperture-Science facility with toxic gas
-
G-Man and the other scientists tried to escape with the Borealis which was part of an experiment to teleport very big things
-
The transport of the Borealis went wrong and all of the inhabitants died. Except the G-Man.
-
The Borealis contained different parts of another version of GLaDOS that should be delivered to a military base in the arctic
-
Most part of G-Man is caught in another the dimension and his mind got combined with the main core of GLaDOS on the borealis
-
Somehow the G-Man (GLaDOS) managed it to reproduce some parts of its old cores and build up an army of combine (Creatures combined with the technology of GLaDOS) in another dimension.
-
Several years have passed since the Aperture-Science accident. The only chance for GLaDOS to fully get back to it’s dimension is to initiate the resonance cascade.
-
The G-Mans mind is still active and is sometimes able to take over control of his body. A moment like this is when he warns Eli (Unforseen Consequences)
-
Resonance Cascade happens and the Combine can invade earth. Xen was just a by-product. Sometimes G-Man is able to watch Gordon escaping from Black-Mesa and tries to lead him.
-
The Combine (GLaDOS) are taking over the earth to make sure that humans won’t find the Borealis and destroy GLaDOS’ core. In a strong moment G-Man is able to get Gordon into stasis to save his life and set him free when the time has come and the situation is cooled down.
-
7 years after the Black-Mesa accident the G-Man thinks that it would be a suitable moment to free Gordon out of Stasis
-
G-Man leads Gordon through City 17 when he is capable of taking control. He wants to disconnect GLaDOS from its tools (the combine) by destroying the citadel. But the combine can reconnect to GLaDOS by opening a new portal
-
Mossman finds the Borealis with GLaDOS’ main core on it.
-
When GLaDOS finds out it sends out combine to stop Gordon Freeman and the resistance forever and secure the core.

No
nooooo! All my efforts gone to waste!!
Creative but weak
These are my theories about the G-man, in an assignment update from his employers:
Name: N/A
Current Occupation: Agent of multi-dimensional force opposing the Combine Empire
Current Assignment: Observe pivotal points in Combine planetary enslavement operations, recruiting resistance members who display extraordinary survivability, intelligence, and combat prowess against massive adversity.
Job Restrictions: Cannot directly interfere with Combine operations or communicate with anyone not being considered for recruitment.
Recruiting:After your evaluation is complete, communicate with us to acquire authorization. Only then are you able to present the client with a choice. If said client declines our generous offer of employment, elimination is required to erase your footprint from the time line.
Recently employed clients (Resonance Cascade):
Subject: Gordon Freeman
Status: Hired
Awaiting Assignment
Subject: Adrian Shepard
Status: Detained
Further Evaluation Pending
I want to see fighting between two guys… gordon 'n shephard
it’d be like chuck norris against bruce lee :retard:
You morons have it all wrong. Here’s the official, VALVe approved theory:
Gman, many years ago, was a resident of the planet 4chan. He was a average member of society, one of the “Anyonomous”. One day, through unknown resources, he gained ungodly, mythical powers, known as HAXXXXXXXXx. They shunned the Gman for this, telling him “Go eAt A mOnKeY hAxOr”. He flew away from the planet and never returned.
Gman became an infamous space-troll. He trolled many other planets, like planet Harbol and Lockers. Then, one day, he came across Earth, and just happened to have a random, obnoxiously jacked-with-epic xen crystal. He knew it would cause a resonance cascade, so he crammed it in some weird machine, squealing “olololololololololololo” as he did.
After that, he made a dupilcate account, called the combine, then went and Pwned earth. To this day, he still trolls Gordon Freeman and Adrian Sheperd for the “lulz”
AAAh, of course, it all makes sense now,
Here’s my G-man theory:
Many, many years ago when he was twenty-three
He was married to a widow who was pretty as could be.
This widow had a grown-up daughter who had hair of red.
His father fell in love with her and soon they, too, were wed.
This made the G-man’s dad his son-in-law and changed his very life
For his daughter was his mother, 'cause she was his father’s wife.
To complicate the matter, even though it brought him joy
He soon became the father of Dr. Gordon Freeman.
Dr. Gordon Freeman then became a brother-in-law to the G-man’s dad
And so became his uncle, though it made him very sad
For if he was his uncle, then that also made him brother
To the widow’s grown-up daughter, who, of course, was his step-mother.
His father’s wife then had a son who kept them on the run
And he became his grandchild, 'cause he was his daughter’s son.
His wife is now his mother’s mother, and it makes him blue
Because, although she is his wife, she’s his grandmother too.
If his wife is his grandmother, then he is her grandchild
And every time he thinks of it, it nearly drives him wild
For now he has become the strangest case you ever saw
As husband of his grandmother, he is his own grandpaw.
I have a theory about Gman,
I think that Gman was one of the original combine, not the aliens the combine use to conquer others, but the real original Combine. I think he disagreed with the combine when they started conquering other dimensions and rebelled, this is supported by when he says to Adrian Shepard that those who survive against all odds remind him of himself. He therefor had the Power of the Combine to go to different dimensions. I think Gman tries to help those who are invaded by the Combine which is why he helps Gordon destabilize them. I also think Gman can’t MAKE you do anything. thats why he gave you free choice at the end of hl1 and you go thru the portal. by going thru the portal i think you pretty much handed over all rights to your “contract”
My idea is still developing and is probably completely wrong but its a possibility
wat
The theory I could come up with is the more plausible to me, and it’s not another of those “I am your father” theories.
I think the G-Man’s “employers” are the leaders of another, less powerful alien government who want to take down the Combine (kind of like the Rebel Alliance versus the Galactic Empire in Star Wars). The purpose of the Resonance Cascade orchestrated by the G-Man was to let the Combine know of Earth’s researches on teleportation and make them bring as many units as possible, so the defenses of their Overworld would be weaker and allow them to bring down the Universal Union for good. The defeat of the Nihilanth at the hands of Gordon is the single event that started the Portal Storms through which the Combine were free to send their units and take over the Earth in seven hours.
As for the G-Man, he is but a mere observer who “hires” the more efficient and/or dangerous specimens (like Gordon or Shepard in Opposing Force). He psychologically manipulates the minds of these poor humans to take the appearance of a business man, so they can at least have a human figure to look at and, somehow, trust.
+1 to you.
eer … no … the RC caused the portal storms but still - kudos for the effort and as Fong said +1 for you
I want to see the Gman and a Vortigaunt get into Hand-to-Hand combat.
…why are you looking at me like that?
Nice. Poetry there, and an interesting and confusing plot…
