The only part of Human Revolution that bothers me (from a tech standpoint), is the city on top of a city. I don’t see that happening any time again in my lifetime (China used to have a series of blocks in Kowloon, Hong Kong with building on top of building, but it wasn’t the engineering marvel it sounds like, and they tore it down in the 1990s because it wasn’t stable).
cities underground are more lilely to happen than cities above cities
How about cities at the bottom of the ocean?
Too much pressure.
Q&A topped off with the second trailer.
Jesus christ this looks amazing.
Oh god Ridley’s face when asked about chestbursting scene
Ridley sees no problem with using real sets over CGI, and seems to prefer them financially and practically for the actors.
Yay
And that trailer is fucking sexy

Looks really nice and I’m happy at the relative lack of CGI.
Sweet. Yeah, CGI has its place, but for movies like this you can’t beat good old fashioned props, sets, and effects. That’s why I was rather disappointed with movies like I Am Legend…they could have been so much better if they had just used real stuff, IMO.
Which is a shame, because I really liked Chet Zar’s designs for the darkseekers.
It could have been done justice if they just use actors with the right bodytype.
They made the same mistake with the prequel of the Thing that was released in 2011. It started out nicely with non-CGI gore effects and alien models. Then they went full retard and did everything in CGI. Such a shame, especially since you could achieve so much more realistic and memorable effects using todays technology.
Well, no exec in their right mind would second guess Ridley, so here’s hoping he can strong arm practical effects back into the picture.
Just watched the new trailer! Did any of the hardcore Alien fans notice at the end when Michael Fassbender said “Big things have small beginnings” that just before it cuts out, he does a little lip twitch like Ash? And his character is supposed to be a synthetic, right?
I just saw the german trailer is slightly different from the english one.

Unlike some people coughgeorgelucuscough
Imagine you’re an actor and you’re standing infront of a greenscreen.
Director: ok, so you’re in a strange world…we’ll add that in later…and you see an alien which has a mysterious look to it…we’ll also add the alien in later…
Now, I want you to react to what the alien is doing…we’ll add that in later…but it’s kind of moving strangely…
You’re scared, so you run and hide behind the table…we’ll CGI the table in later…
That’s pretty much how Star Wars 1-3 were made.
YIKES! You are seeing things which are not there. I think you need to calm down a little.
Charlize Theron blinked twice in quick succession like Ash did in the first Alien film…do you think that she is a synthetic? (see what I did there?)
I shouldn’t have watched the trailer. It reveals far too much of the plot and film. You see the Alien Pilot far too clearly for my liking.
I should have said reminded me of. I’m not convinced I’ve discovered some conspiracy or anything. I was just saying that’s what it reminded me of.
Agreed… There is a part in the trailer where you see them crashing their own spaceship into a (or perhaps THE) “derelict ship” from Alien as an act of desperation. If there is a direct link between a scene in Prometheus and THE crash of the derelict ship in Alien, I don’t want to see it in the trailers!
However, we all know trailers can be deceiving… the year 2009 comes to mind
They’re verging on the edge of showing too much. At least now they’ve confirmed that there’s still gonna be a marginal horror element. I was starting to doubt it.
Yeah, the plot is almost spelled out and it feels like there’s been too many big reveals spoiled.
…I’m still pumped like crazy for it though lol[/SIZE]
