Fuck HP!!!!

so i have had this HP pavilion dv9933cl for about a little less than a year, and its already about to die on me. On the screen there are these flashing lines that wont go away. I contected HP about it, but they wanted 400$ for a fix. And in short, i dont have $400

I tried to repair it buy applying thermal paste to the graphics chip and putting peices f copper on top of all of the chips to apply more pressure to them, hoping that that would fix my problem, it didnt. I tried reflowing the chip, and that didnt work either.

HP had a recall on the dv9000 series, but that excluded my computer, and now im stuck with a piece of shit that costed me $700.

so my question is:

should i cough up the $400 and get it fixed, only to have this exact same problem happen to me in another year, or should i scratch together $800 for this really nice sony vaio that i found?

needless to say, im never going to buy another HP computer, ever again, EVER!!!

If I were you, i’d save up for the vaio.

You’re an idiot for buying HP in the first place. They have a fucking awful track record for quality.

Woah, why so hot?
Also, HP computers are friggin’ perfect in Europe.

Old HP laptops=good
new HP computers=bad

You got ripped off too, if you paid $700 for that computer.

This is why I build my computers, no recall on the shit I build. And I’ve had an HP laptop for about a year now, never got any problems from this.

Harddrive at 56 C? That’s really bad, if theres a component that doesn’t like heat it’s a harddrive. Have you tried installing new drivers for your videocard? Is the screen always flashing (even when idle)?

Just shows how crap laptops are, when you play games on that laptop it will probably overheat every single component inside. I remember DELL had problems with overheating (85 C+) capacitors that started to leak or even explode. Your motherboard is probably running at 65 C+ under load too…

Well you can try cleaning dust out of your laptop to restore some airflow, and make sure that when you use the laptop you don’t block the airflow (like placing it on your bed)

They should really go easy on the design and put some decent cooling in those laptops, they probably want your laptop to break down thanks to high temperatures so you can go back to them and buy a new one.
The only properly cooled laptop I’ve ever seen is an Alienware, and those are not particularly cheap.

Try plugging in an external monitor. Do you get the flashing lines on it too? If not, then the video chipset is fine. Sometimes, the display cable will work a bit loose from the motherboard socket, or the cable gets stressed from running over the hinge. It’s a major disassembly job to check for these issues, so you might want to call around to local computer stores and see if they have a flat rate repair price. If it is the cable, then it shouldn’t be anywhere close to $400 to repair.

Less than year = under warranty
you made a claim in the wrong place

Now that you opened it and did stuff I’m sure it is out of warranty now.

I have an old HP laptop, the screen got fucked up, i bought a new one, now that screen is also fucked up. Next time i’m buyng a MacBook Pro :3

yes, it acctuly mainly happens on an extenal monitor, but it happens on the laptop monitor too

my warrently was only 90 days, even though i bought this damn thing refurbished

i was reading on HP’s support forum, and tons of people have been having the exact same problem i have, i dont know why, its HP’s crappy design

ok i never place it on my bed, its acctuly on a nice cooling pad, that doesnt work :meh:

my video card does have the latest drivers, and the screen does always flash, even when im idle, i cant play any of my games anymore, the only games that i can play that dont have a FPS of 5 are, all of the goldsrc games.

You want to downgrade?

Neh, of course im gonna install Windows on it, i just don’t want something that breaks when i look at it :stuck_out_tongue:

So you’re going to spend a fuckton more for a laptop because it has an Apple name on it, instead of spending less and getting a faster one? Just because HP sucks doesn’t mean you need to go straight to Apple.

Then what do you suggest?

One of the other dozen or so PC makers perhaps?

Well, i wont have enough money anytime soon either, im buying a desktop computer soon
