Your question has already been answered, why do you keep going on?
I understand this point, but I just hate, if games imply that those things would still be used in combat.
Because I…don’t know. Just wanna waste my time a little bit.
Flamethrowers were extremely effective combat weapons for trench clearing. I’ve been to Hooge crater, in Belgium on what was the western front, where flamethrowers were used for the first time. The cemetery is… huge…
The point is: They “were”…
So fucking what, if you’re playing a game where you fight zombies and aliens, what does it matter that it’s no longer used in modern warfare?
Because setting people on fire is the most fun thing to do!..until the police come by
Most of these games are anyway supposed to be set in our world/reality (present or future), which means, that it doesn’t matter what kind of enemies you are fighting, it still makes no sense.
You think a flamethrower isn’t an effective killing weapon? Even if it doesn’t kill you in seconds, once you’re set ablaze I doubt you’ll be shooting at anyone soon.
It’s fun, and it makes perfect sense for use in video games!
I hope you realize that most countries, (at least the U.S.,) only stopped using them majorly for “ethical reasons.” (i.e., Burning to death is such a horrific way to die.)
That raises questions on it’s own- I mean, it they’re used in COMBAT, not for executions. In my opinion, there’s a huge difference.
Oh, and Russia uses a launched napalm warhead on a flamethrower type device. (2-3 liters of the shit!)
Also, the U.S. now uses the nifty M202A1 FLASH as one alternative.
Gamethrowers!
Also: If you’re talking about ,for example, tf2: The game is supposed take place in 1969.
Oh, and incendiary ammunition won’t set people on fire. It only ignites if it hits a hard surface, and let’s face it: Human skin isn’t as hard as wood. if you want to set people on fire you need a flamethrower. It’s not that inefficient.
Man, you dont have any sense of nostalgia, have you now?
Besides the many disadvantages as weight, the short range and the fact that they pose many risks to the operator itself…it was only one of many reasons not to use them in combat anymore.
No, I don’t. I just think it’s stupid to fake the facts. It would be more realistic to use new experimental weapons, instead of outdated ones.
Well, if you actually hit people with it they don’t fight back anymore… Because
they’re running around and screaming of pain. If you saw a guy with a flamethrower while you were within his reach, you’d run. You’d run like hell, hoping to God you can outrun him. Also, they are not that heavy. I think a light machine gun’d be heavier.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh man. I suppose you also want your game to destroy itself if you die as well. And while we’re at it let’s make games shitty to meet your realism standards.
Sauce or it didn’t happen.
Also, The Crazies.
I define modern as post-medieval, so… it fits fine for me.
Napalm is like stupidity, you don’t want to get any on you.
Unfortunetly, this thread deals with both… :meh:
Check the trivia section.
The Scout’s default bat is made of aluminum. The first aluminum baseball bat was actually made in the 1970’s; at least two years after this game is supposed to take place.
I saw the calendars in-game, they said '63.
I’m keeping my 21st century weapon reskins nonetheless.
