FLAC

Hey, do any of you know a safe, reliable, good, and free FLAC player? (or any site where i can get the codecs for FLAC?)

Thanks.

VLC should be able to play flac out of the box, same with winamp.

If you need a codec pack, look no further than CCCP

Foobar.

An amazing media player with a comprehensive Equalizer that you should be using if you are bothering to listen to flac.

Audio conversion internal program is very customizable, you just need to download the most recent codecs for any other formats.

Edit: Also note that the interface is VERY customizable.

^I can vouch for this. Though I don’t use the equalizer, even though I use Monkey’s Audio (another lossless codec). Just can’t be bothered.

^ Foobar2000 ftw, amazingly customisable media player, and it does FLAC out of the box.

^ What they said. I’ve spent a long time messing around with the control panel in foobar and made a completely custom experience and layout using very little addons. With a little bit of nosing around, you can get a layout that fits you all your own, complete with keyboard shortcuts for every single feature the program has to offer.

Foobar2000 definitely.

Some alternatives though just to even it out:
AMIP2
Winamp
Songbird

You can also convert FLAC with foobar.

IMO, just convert it to something smaller and delete the FLAC files, waste of space, and the quality isn’t noticeably different between a V0 VBR MP3 and FLAC.

Unless of course you’re a producer or something with equipment in the range of thousands of dollars, then FLAC might be worth it.

Space is dirt cheap, so it doesn’t matter all that much. Might as well keep the lossless versions, if only as a backup.
