Five Guys Burger and Fries

I bet this whole mess is just a marketing ploy for that burger place

“The official burger of infidelity and industry corruption.”

And now I want some Five Guys.

On the topic of Zoe Quinn, I didn’t really know who she was before this, but from looking at her “game” that appears to just be a poor excuse for a visual novel, I have no interest in it. Also anyone shocked by someone using sex to win favor shouldn’t be, it’s not that surprising shit like that happens, especially in the incredibly unprofessional environment that is games journalism.

At least you guys can try some Five Guys :frowning:

I’m reminded of the line from “Fierce Creatures” (a “sequel” to Fish Called Wanda starring a lot of the same actors in kind of the same roles, sort of).

Jamie Lee Curtis’s character is looking to take over running a zoo from John Cleese’s character, and she’s dressed in a tight dress showing off all her curves. As she’s going over plans for the zoo, Kevin Kline’s character tells her, “You know, you’d better be careful dressed like that around here. People will think you’re sleeping your way to the top.”

She responds, in a matter-of-fact voice, “Just as long as they don’t think I’m sleeping my way to the middle.”

Well looks like the shit storm is spreading…

I think journalistic integrity is a pretty major issue no matter how much the other side tries to distort it or pretend it’s about their toxic brand of feminism. Of course, since gaming “journalists” had no integrity to begin with, hopefully this event will inspire less biased coverage of video games and a better environment for smaller developers.

Gone Homo
Parody of Gone Home.

Mundain Matts channel for his take on the whole thing. He’s already made a ton of videos explaining this whole debacle.

The fries we’re delicious though.
So Internet Aristrocrat and Mundain Matt went to a White Castle, and saw Five Guys Going In N’ Out of a “Dairy” Queen.

Apparently this blows the whole thing wide open? I have no idea, I haven’t really been following this drama.

Pure bullshit from the looks of it. Per usual.

Yep, outta context. This looks worse and worse by the day. Wonder what became of techraptor.

Well fuck I didn’t see THAT coming…

TL;DR: IGF and Indiecade could have committed a federal crime (racketeering)… emphasis on could as nothing is really proven (yet). Nor have charges been brought up officially (by the three letter organization known as the FBI). However they’ve been accused by some members of the community for racketeering and rigging the indie scene to their advantage to make money and make their products successful.

I defer to this video as it goes into the nitty gritty details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HM_Z5YTop7g

Edit: I’ve paid close attention to this shitstorm after it went down. I didn’t think much of Quinn cheating on the poor bastard that is her ex, but it busted the door wide open on this issue, and it’s getting pretty damn interesting.

I’ve always thought his name was Phil Fish and Philippe Poisson was some kind of joke name people gave him, but I guess that’s his real name.

Anyway, throw them all in the gulag. Indie games especially have essentially no set standards and shit is praised all the time for no reason. If there’s illegal activity responsible for some of these games getting big and not just bad taste then that’s even worse.

Dear Ester was actually decent imo. You shouldn’t demote the entire scene, as there are some decent games out on the floor that are indie. Path of Exile is one that is popular (somewhat) and is pretty damn good as I’ve played it myself.

Still I agree with you, it’s far too unregulated, but some people like it that way, it seems.

No, I agree that there are good indie games but a lot of the ones that are big hits shouldn’t be, at least in my opinion. I haven’t played Dear Esther or Stanley Parable but video games need to stop trying to be walking simulators. Gone Home is the best example as it’s literally less than half an hour long of essentially nothing and praised more for its “message” than anything. I don’t think the scene needs any regulation, just that video games should be praised for being video games and games that rely solely on being “progressive” or whatever shouldn’t be getting 10/10 scores. Though I suppose that’s a larger issue with the community than anything to do with the industry and the AAA industry has similar issues. Video games have stopped being required to be video games really and I think that’s an issue.

Define “video games” because it’s technically interactive media imo. Most of them fit the criteria despite being nothing more than a fucking simulator.

But I digress, yeah, there I agree with you. Though hype is part of the problem. I’d recommend watching/listening TotalBiscuit’s take on this. It sheds a bit of light on the issue you describe.

Oh jeez it’s just like the postmodern art “movement” all over again
A bunch of colors vomited onto a canvas now counts as art and is therefore worth millions! yay.

Just wanted to say that Stanley Parable is an excellent game, and definitely NOT just a walking simulator.
