Firefly and Serenity

I have no idea what’s going on with this, but for those who haven’t yet seen it: https://helpnathanbuyfirefly.com/

What is Firefly about, briefly?

Cowboys… IN SPAAAAAAAAAACE

I actually run my own page along with a few others (hence the banner)- the HNBF phenomenon is a bit infamous in the greater Browncoat community. Needless to say, that particular idea about Nathan Fillion purchasing the rights to Firefly is dead. HNBF has rebranded themselves as the Unstoppable Signals and are currently working on a few different projects. They still operate through the HNBF page on Facebook. The Cortex, my page, is more of a place for pure social networking and less direct related to a cause like HNBF was.

On the surface, it’s about space cowboys 500 years from now who fly around and steal stuff while trying to avoid the law. Obviously the show isn’t quite so cheesy as that sounds, of course

The Western theme comes the storyline history. The Captain of the Firefly-class ship Serenity was once a solider serving with the Independents who fought the centralized government, the Alliance, in the War for Independence. The Independents were most from the border planets, as opposed to the heavily Alliance-influenced core planets. The border planets were colonized but not well-managed, and sort of slipped into lawlessness, a lot like the old West.

But forget the subject or plot- what Firefly is really about and why people love it and connect to it so much is that it’s about what makes us human and about the interpersonal connections and relationships between all of us.

There are no aliens in Firefly- only humans. It’s something I find both unique and refreshing about the series.

Plus, it’s super funny and terribly engrossing. The actor chemistry on the show is really amazing, and you can tell that they all really liked working both with each other professionally and on the show as their characters.

Sorry for rambling :stuck_out_tongue:

Space Banditos

almost just started watching it. it’s awesome!

There are no fireflies in Colorado :frowning:

“There was no apocalypse. This means we need more sci-fi on our network, but we are unoriginal dicks.”

“…Call Joss!”

“YES! If it doesn’t work out, we can always cancel it after a season or two, he’s used to it.”

This… was hilarious. You basically got it down to a tee

Jan 2, 2013 I promise Fox will say that in a board meeting. Probably not word for word though. And I take the promise back. Because they will know that they fucked Joss over too many times for him to bite. Maybe.

Firefly is awesome. Definately my favorite TV show. I play UT with ballistic weapons’ revolvers and the firefly soundtrack when I need some moar space western.

I feel like the show was better than the movie, yes, but the movie was pretty much just an extended episode of the show. I bet if Serenity had really been Firefly Season 2 as it had been intended, it would have easily surpassed Season 1. And that’s saying something…

Speaking of 2013… Nathan Fillion’s Castle contract goes up then (as I might have mentioned before). Hmmm.

What the fuck, man.

…? Did I miss something? Sorry for the double post?

Necro bloody fucking post.

Double-Necro!

That’s like hitting a guy twice in the groin.

^^ 6 months after he pissed you off.

Loved Firefly and Serenity is one of if not my favorite movie. I would have bought the Bluray collection if it hadn’t been $70 last time I checked :rage: .
