Firefly and Serenity

Sorry for all the necro, y’all. I was just noticing that I hadn’t replied to the last couple of posts.

Cool, dude- I actually got Firefly on blu at 35$ and Serenity on blu at $10. Keep an eye out on Amazon- they frequently dip in price. As much as I love Firefly, I wasn’t willing to dish out like 70 bucks either- I just don’t have that kind of expendable cash.

As much as I enjoy(ed) Firefly, I sure hope that they never re-start it. I’m pretty sure it would still be good, but it wouldn’t live up to people’s expectations and plummet again. Besides, I don’t think it would get the mainstream appeal that is apparently necessary for a show to not be cancelled after season one.
Besides, I’m a firm believer of the principle that “all good things must end before they inevitably decline into mediocrity”. I would have liked to see more of Dollhouse, too, but it was short and sweet.

An absolutely fair point, Thomas. I think our best bet for success would likely be a TNG-style continuation of the series. That universe is just too rich to leave alone entirely.

And many would argue TNG surpassed TOS, so there’s that.

I just got remembered of the only thing I really, really can’t stand about Firefly/Serenity. The sounds the guns make.

The guns in the show don’t function like the ones in real life.

They do. They’re still shooting projectiles that are propelled by the pressure-wave created by an exothermic reaction.
But leaving that aside, I still don’t like the sound.

Interesting… but someone on this forum would find something wrong with the guns! Haha… I totally understand. Sometimes little things bother us like that. I always accepted all of that because of the tech they’re using.

I’ve seen about 5 episodes of Firefly, wasn’t really impressed.

Later watched Serenity when it first came out in theaters tho.

Shit was epic.

Did you watch Firefly pre-Serenity, or post? I think you might enjoy it if you haven’t watched it since before Serenity, especially since you know where the story is going.

That was how I watched it. I saw Serenity in theaters, then went back and fell in love with the series.

That prolly would have helped me get into it more. but all in all, I still think the series and the film were both great.

Same here! :freeman: I will say, though, that the events of Serenity feel a lot more weighty if you’ve seen the series and gotten to really know the characters ahead of time.
