guess its time for me to move to massachusetts
Wat?
I was born there
And suddenly, an unusual number of Japanese men migrate to Massachusetts.
… and camera sales skyrocket in the Massachusetts area… Amazon and NewEgg websites crash, due to massive inquiries/orders for photographic products/accessories.
I get the feeling men are going to get an increase in getting kicks in the face…
What the actual fuck. Why would the supreme court, or any court, rule in favour of something like that?
Just… Why?
Pervy Judge(s)?
From the article, it sound like there’s a sort of legal loophole, and the judge was forced to rule the way he did - a judge’s job is to interpret the law, not make it.
The article is probably sensationalized, besides.
It’s dumb judge then. My freedom stops where other people’s freedom start.
I may be free to film up some woman’s skirt but she’s also free to not be subjected to that kind of thing.
john stuart mill was a moron
And they are now pushing a bill through the Massachusetts state legislature to make upskirting illegal. So don’t get your hopes up on moving there just yet.
Regardless, in the United States, judges are limited in what they’re allowed to do. They have to go by the law. It’s up to legislators and the executive to fix the law (which I’m sure will be happening tout de suite). The judge’s hands are tied.
I can’t hear you over the sound of my own FREEDOM. That or maybe its the women screaming while I take pictures up their skirts.
You’ve got it the other way around Maxey. Your freedom stops where other people’s freedom stops. If someone else’s freedom isn’t safeguarded, then neither is yours.
(a woman’s right not to have pictures taken up her skirt is such a freedom; taking the pictures is infringing on someone else’s freedom; freedom pertains to oneself and the violation of another person’s sovereignty doesn’t fall under the category of personal liberty)
My point exactly. The article even states that the legislature is angry and will probably be fixing it.
I think that’s the case everywhere though. At least any place where they’ve heard of the separation of powers.
Aaaand they just outlawed it.
That was quick for government work.
