Favourite Mods

This topic has undoubtely been done, but I couldn’t find it, what are your favourite Mods across all games?

Curse (Half Life 2) - Is simply amazing, stunning graphically and unquie, everything I’ve ever wanted from a mod
They Hunger (Half Life) - This one got me started on Mods and I still love it, a brolley instead of a crowbar, genius
Natural Selection (Half Life) - Very ambtious project and a lot of fun
Pirates, Vikings and Knights (Half Life) - It was a good laugh?
7th Serpent (Max Payne 2) - Many will disagree but I enjoyed it

Minerva: Metastasis, FakeFactory 5 and maybe SMOD as well for the sequel we all know and love.

The Nameless Mod for Deus Ex.

Only mods I’ve played.

EDIT: Actually, not true, Strider Mountain as well, but it paled horribly in comparison to Minerva. Also a few other DX mods, but I can only remember Shifter and TNAG.

It probably was posted in the gaming section of the forums.

I like HL2 mods that expand on the Half-Life universe without having you play as Gordon Freeman (although I am downloading Rock 24 right now). I have played Awakening and wasn’t terribly impressed by the story telling or voice acting.

I have heard good things about Dear Esther, but I am going to wait to play it until after this guy is finished updating the maps.

Urgh, so many, can’t think of them

pirate mod for bf 1942

I just finished playing Research and Development last night, and I must say that it’s the best mod I’ve ever played besides MINERVA (and the other really obvious, really unreleased one). It’s genius and feels like HL2. I must agree with Elwood; the best HL2 mods are like playable fanfiction. They’re best when they capture the mood of the original game (unless, of course, it’s not in the HL2 canon at all like Flipside).

The Specialists was a godlike mod IMO

I also really liked Sven Co-op, Zombie Master and the They Hunger series.

Though I enjoyed Minerva I thought it nothing to special compared to what else is on offer, so I don’t really get the fuss over it (Obvs this is just personal oppionon and I could be completly wrong). I think Mods work best when they take what the orignal engine offered and make it their own. Curse for example or more recently Dino D-Day, which i’ve only just started playing but Nazis and Dinosaurs? In one game? How has this not been done before, put shooting Nazis and something and the games already good but make that something dinosaurs, words carnt explain how happy that makes me

this.

my favorite HL2 mod is definitely zombie master. It kicks the shit out of Left 4 Dead IMO.

i really wanted to like They Hunger, but I’m a zombie snob and zombies using guns is eye roll-worthy to me. except in DOOM. they didn’t know any better.

Also a thread over at Half-Life series.

just so you know…

also would be nice if you could keep a uniform format on the posts.
Like have a banner or logo from the mod then the mod’s name in bold and then your thoughts or mini-review on it.
