Oh, so difficult… I’m going to need to brainstorm about this one…
The fictionals:
- Shock Roach from Opposing Force. Rapid-fire, regenerative. Paint enemies and suicide with swimmers.
- Tacuchnatagamuntoron (Tac) from Stargate TC mod for HL. Like tiny laser sentry-guns!
The semi-reals:
- Tripmines from Half-Life. Strategic ingenuity combined with a fire-and-forget approach.
- Incendiary Cannon from the pyro in Team Fortress Classic. Big ignition radius, through walls too!
- Storming Obokan lost by Dutyer in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. 45 rounds + GL, and extras.
- RC-P90 from Goldeneye 64. In-game, it held 80 armour-piercing rounds. 900rpm.
The reals:
- AK-101 from the MEC medic in Battlefield 2. Extremely versatile tool against all infantry.
- Mosin Nagant with the Russians in the original Call of Duty. Ironsight was perfect for framing heads.
Overall, from these choices… drum roll
Tacuchnatagamuntoron. Planting a few tacs in a strategic trap is invigorating. Waiting with them and staging an ambush (especially in closed-quarters) will give you many kills against the Tau’ri. They are effective, yet always a secondary priority to a preoccupied enemy. Their small sizes (and ability to be planted in groups) means it will take the enemy precious time to look out for and identify them, if you can hide them well enough in corners.
When time is of the essence, scattering them will keep an enemy on their toes. And due to their small sizes, they may be placed on small ledges and walls, above doorways and at the tops of stairs, to always catch the enemy off-guard as they scan for living enemies.
One of my favourite tricks was to plant one on each side underneath the stargate, and the third to the side. Their arrival through the gate, one by one, is marked by several lasers hitting them from each flank.
