Anyone else getting this game? I am a maybe so far
From what I’ve heard, it has a very proper PC version, with a FOV slider and all that good shit.
I have no money tho, so I might get the game through, uh, other means.
edit: the game has been getting rave reviews btw https://www.vg247.com/2012/11/21/far-cry-3-reviews-go-live-with-many-positive-scores/
Looking forward to this one, even though I remember vowing not to buy another Far Cry game after the POS that was FC2.
I really liked the very first FC back then, except the completely brainless story and the hilarious “monsters”
Never played FC2
FC3 looks quite good, it’s more open and you can do a lot more than your standard COD AND it has already one of the best villains ever besides the Joker, at least for me…
If I can spare any money and I’ve got a new Lappy or PC I think I’m going to think about buying it ^^
The only thing that I don’t like is the protagonist constantly talking to himself and yelling out in the middle of gameplay, like in that burning building setpeice.
Well I guess that’s normal to those who are used to Gordon :freeman:
If I mystically stop being broke I’d probably give it a look. I really like how green and blue the game is, it’s vibrant as hell.
I actually heard it was pretty terribly optimized. Getting around 30 fps using a 680.
Yeah. S’got something to do with how it was built to offload GPU shit onto the CPU or something.
It sounds like something that could be patched, but idk.
I’ll wait to see the player’s reactions. the couple reviews I’ve read so far seem to just be vomiting praise over everything everyone didn’t like about Far Cry 2 as though it was some revolutionary new big deal.
Now I didn’t mind Far Cry 2, I thought it was fun enough, but I want to see how the players react first.
^
The trailers and promotional shit have been enticing enough (exciting, even), and Vaas is such an interesting and unsettling character (I have a thing for characters with psychosis in fiction).
But I listened to the trailers for Dead Island as well, and that brought me nowhere but a very regretful $60 purchase.
Isn’t that what GTA4 did?
Yeah, but those trailers were just pretty. These are pretty descriptive, you know? idk. So far, even if there are serious issues that haven’t surfaced, the positive shit they’ve shown is enough for me to want to buy it.
On christmas tho.
Huh, this is odd. Compare the box art image in this thread with the ads for FC3 on this page.
Notice how in the ad art in the link, the crazy guy is keeping his finger off the trigger, while in the art on this page he isn’t? Weird…
huh.
Here’s a summary page with review scores and excerpts. Looks like it’s a winner

Pre-ordered and soon to be on it’s way.
Yep,system requirements for this game are pretty demading:
Minimum Specs:
CPU: Intel Core2 Duo E6700/AMD Athlon64 X2 6000+ or equivalent dual-core
Video: Nvidia GTX8800/AMD Radeon HD2900 or equivalent 512MB DirectX 9c card
Memory: 4GB
Recommended Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i3-530/AMD Phenom II X2 565 or equivalent quad-core
Video: Nvidia GTX480/AMD Radeon HD5770 or equivalent 1024MB DirectX 11 card
Memory: 4GB
Hi-Performance Specs:
Video: Nvidia GTX680/AMD Radeon HD7970 or equivalent shiny new DirectX 11 card
CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K/AMD Bulldozer FX4150 or equivalent quad-core
Memory: 8GB
The first thing I noticed is the minimum of 4 GB of RAM as requirement which is the first time that has happened as far as I know.
Max Payne 3 also had crazy high recommended specs and look at how crazy well optimized it actually is.
That is true. I was worried for MP3 when requirements and benchmarks were released for it but it turned out being amazingly well optimized.
That doesn’t say too much since we’re talking about two different companies and genres all together.
