Maybe Paul will somehow return?
Silly Obsidian, no one had M4’s in the 50’s.
Also, I think them NCR’s are pretty cool dudes.
Same goes for the Desert Eagle, which was in Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics.
Because Part 3 is a good game. It carries the spirit of the old games into a new engine. You can see the game designers’ love for details in every part of the Capital Wasteland. The atmosphere is really good. The overall look and feel of the game is also excellent. It has many flaws, but that was the same for the old games. Fallout 2, for instance, added dozens of unnecessary weapons who didn’t really serve a purpose. Fallout 3, in turn, went back to the roots of Fallout 1 instead, where there was one weapon of each type (one automatic shotgun, one assault rifle, one minigun etc.).
Okay, the story could have been better, the gameplay less buggy etc.
But Bethesda did well, considering all the difficulties they must have had to port a turn-based isometric third-person rpg into the Oblivion-Engine. And the old Fallout feeling immediately struck me again when starting to play. So yes, I am a fan of Fallout 3, as well as 1 and 2.
The war didn’t start in the 50’s
Do you think they had robots?
I never played the first one and second, I got into the game more for Bethesda actually (TES style game with guns). I liked Fallout 3 and I’ll probably like this game.
The war started in 20xx. The game’s timeline deviated from ours in the 50’s, with the Cold War never ending. So military technology was given almost all development effort, but aesthetically, things were stuck in the fifties. With robots.
Looks interesting. Not sure what I feel about an in tact city though.
Oh wow, someone has too much time on their hands!
For every single subject on this planet, there is a geek community knowing absolutely everything about it.
I’m just saying, most of the old-school Fallout fans hated Fallout 3 with a passion (see: No Mutants Allowed), so seeing someone that likes 1,2, but also 3 is very rare, even on the internet.
Oh man, I’ve been waiting for months for a chance to use that image.
Seriously though, this looks quite exciting, especially the hardcore mode. I play this way normally, so making it neccessary makes me feel less like a realism nazi.
I must say though that the trailer was quite rubbish, especially compared with the brilliance and black humour that was the Fallout 3 2008 trailer.

Still, looks to be quite good.
This is not a full trailer though. The Vegas trailer is just a teaser. Similar to the Fallout 3 one on the ruined bus.
erm sorry but … due to the fact that time has passed shouldn’t the buildings be
even more ruined because of erosion and alike ?
and also - i was disappointed with the teaser trailer too , i was expecting at least a bit of ingame media … but no :meh:
I’m probably gonna get flamed for this, but I never liked the 50’s theme. I know it’s a major part of the game, but I just never liked the 50’s honestly.
Nonetheless, Fallout is an awesome game. Spent over 300 hours in Fallout 3. :fffuuu:
Not in inhabited cities, where there is a populace that has the time and resources to patch them up. Also, take a look at the New Vegas Artwork - it shows that most of the larger buildings are in fact ready to crumble, while most of the smaller ones are inhabited again.
If DC hadn’t had the Super Mutant & Ghoul infestation problem, it could have been a thriving community as well, by the time Fallout 3 takes place. The Pitt (Pittsburg) wasn’t, because it had been raided and almost burnt to the ground by the Brotherhood 20 years prior to Fallout 3, and had been suffering forever from the Trogg mutation virus, as well as gang wars, cannibalism and anarchy.
I always wondered why so little of DC was actually destroyed, taking into account it must have been hit by nukes during the war. But I figured most of those nukes must have been neutron bombs which wouldn’t destroy the buildings so much, but incinerate (or ghoulify) all lifeforms in there. Maybe the Chinese wanted to conquer Washington intact as a trophy. Who knows…
Quit whining about the teaser. It’s a fuckin teaser! There will be more trailers to come, and they will most likely contain gameplay footage, so look forward to it! I like the teaser. It revealed bit of the background story of the character you play, revealed one of the factions (NCR) and showed that a large patch of Vegas will still be intact and rockin’!
Most of them whiney bitches played it anyway, and all their bitchin’ didn’t stop them from playing it for hundreds of hours. So this game can’t be all that bad.
ok first - i dont think the artwork can be something to use to make a statement - i mean - it’s concept art , so until we see the final product the look of Vegas would have changed several times.
Also , even though the Fallout 3 storyline is very well made and good enough to make an effin book about it , but i’d still not try and explain every little detail , i think they left most of the part of DC intact cause it’d be boring just to roam around the streets seeing nothing but leveled buildings and the same dull landscape. And im not bitchin about the teaser - i’ll play the game because i loved Fallout 3 (i havent played 1 or 2 ) but it would’ve been nice if they showed some ingame footage…
My Mind = Blown!
Just recently I was reading in a German Fallout 3 forum, and there was a thread full of criticism on Fallout 3. It had been bumped by someone complaining on various shenanigans he thought to be weaknesses of the game.
I asked him how long he had been playing it, and he said that he had continuously played it since it’s release date.
I facepalmed really hard at the irony oozing out of that post of his and even more so at the fact that he didn’t notice it himself. If the game really was that bad, he would have quit playing it ages ago. Such a fuckin moron.
New Vegas will be awesome. It will be like Fallout 3 in terms of graphical quality and gameplay, but closer to Fallout 1 and 2 in terms of story and features. What more could I ask for? I’ll be more than content.
this game will be amazing no doubt. i played the first 2 fallout’s everyday as a kid and loved 3 so new Vegas will be a good game to go with (hopefully).
after all for the all the crazy stuff that happens in those game it always speaks the truth in the begging.
war…war never changes…
I hope you know that, although Obsidian does have some of the original Black Isle developers, they were also responsible for “Star Wars: KOtOR2.” Though I never played that game, from what I heard the game’s story was shit. So bad that it took a group of modders to make the story less like shit.
Could someone please clarify this to me?
