I just started playing Fallout 3 last friday, it kinda sucked me in. Came nowhere as close as the Half-life Universe, but still it’s a pretty formidable game. What do you people that have played it think? Any opinions, memories, good mods? Just wondering what other people think about it.
I like it. There aren’t as many mods out for it as Oblivion, but I recommend “More Where that Came From,” “Repair Rethought Reborn,” and the medkit, toolbox, and ammo respawn mod.
I wish I could play it though, it has a weird thing where my keyboard doesn’t work in the middle of playing, I’ll try to make a video of it, it’s hard to explain.
I have played it and have deeply loved it. I have poured in over 100 hours in it. Though I am sorry to say that I own it for the 360 do I really can’t say anything about the mods. My only complaint would be Little Lamplight. Worst bunch of little kids I have ever seen.
You know, because Fallout 3 is exactly like Half-Life in terms of gameplay.
Anyway, I fucking love Fallout 3! Best game of 2008 besides Metal Gear Solid 4, in my opinion.
Just play it for a few more hours to get into it, and before you know it you’ll be playing it for over 100 hours. I don’t think I’ve ever played one game for that long!
Bethesda has created a masterpeice. Black Isle’s death was not in vain.
Sadly, I’m playing the “Shitbox” 360 version, so I can’t play with any mods. But with 100 hours of gameplay, I can’t say I’m dissapointed with my modless version… unless they remake Fallout 1 and 2 using G.E.C.K., then I’ll be pissed, then I’ll buy the PC version.
Played a bit of it at a friend’s place, saw even more being played there.
I must say, It’s on my list of things to buy when I get a chance, up there with the episodes and TF2.
At last we still have DLC.
You might be accidentally pressing the ~ key happened to me to until I realized
what I was doing.
Aren’t I still allowed to have my favorites though?
My point is don’t compare games when they obviously have nothing in common.
It’s like if I say “well, Modern Warfare 2 is okay, but it’s not nearly as good as Pac Man!”
He was comparing how much each game sucked him in to the experience and immersed him, not the games to each other.
I loved it, a bit difficult for me to replay because the “intro” is rather dull after awhile (but not NEARLY as bad as Neverwinter Nights 2) and with such a large map, walking that slow through areas I’ve seen before and can predict grows a bit tiresome.
I felt the actual shooting aspect of it was very lacking, but the VATS pretty much made up for that, since I never actually had to shoot anything.
Why can’t you compare the amount of fun you obtain from two different types of games? The both are games, and their differences are what make them so unique and fun. Whats the fun of comparing if you can’t compare it to something different.
And the games do have similarities. I mean they both have guns and a voiceless protagonists. And the Enclave could be comparable to the Combine for they both are higher in rank than the rest of the world. Also there is a rebellion against the Enclave like there was to the Combine.
Ooooooh. I get it.
Maybe I should READ the post next time, lol.
Yeah, Fallout 3 is immersive, once you get over the piss-poor-stiff animations, the bugs, occasional framerate drops. But all that aside, the world is great for exploration. Listening to 40s-50’s music while shooting off the heads of Raiders/feral ghouls/innocent civilians with the Lincoln’s Repeater is awesome!
I love the “Duck and Cover” vibe the game has.
I also love the fact that u can choose how certain parts of the game play out by the choices u make in game. Blowing up Megaton was the best choice I ever made. Though I was sad to see that the survival guide girl got out alive
been playing this awesome game for 140+ hours, and im still finding new shit to do.
time playing vanilla fallout 3, probably around 90 hours. time with dlc, around 20. time with mods, 25. time dicking around with the console, bout 5.
As a discussion point, what was your fav DLC?
point lookout here, if only for the enemies looking like half the people in my town. :fffuuu:
I feel like the only person in the world who really didn’t like Fallout 3. As in, not even just average like Halo, but below average. Maybe I just played it right after I had gotten completely bored of Oblivion (After about 150 hours), and it just was too samey. Oh well. Gun play still sucks.
Why is there a question mark in the thread title?
Possibly. But I never played Oblivion, so I can’t say if they’re similar or not.
But I can tell you that Fallout 3 DEFINATLY has better voice acting. At least they TRIED not to make the voices cheesy.
Also, yes: You are the only person, besides old school Fallout fans.
It just felt so repetitive. And VATS got old for me five minutes into it. Oh well, I have better games to play. No big loss.
I want to play this game…but I just feel bored when I do.
Interesting combination you got there. Care to elaborate?
I started it and I feel I have the obligation to do so, but when I’m just wandering around I just feel extremely bored…maybe it’s cause the quest I’m doing is asking me to use this repellent on molerats in some underground sewer but I went through previously and killed them all so NO MOLERATS
