Fallout 3 Console Issues

I got Fallout 3 on the PC not too long ago and I have issues with the console button. Like Valve games the console button is the tilde key (~) When I press the tilde key, nothing happens. Some other people suggested turning off the remote sensor but I do not know where to locate that. I have Windows Media Center. Please help if you can.

Problem.

I had a feeling that would happen :meh:

I’m pretty sure, like most Bethesda games, you have to add a “-blah” tag to the launcher shortcut
I think it’s something like devconsoleenabled or enabledevconsole 1. Been a long time since I played one, but just Google “Fallout 3 + enable console” and you should get something.

In fact…

Well, I was completely wrong, and have no idea what game I was thinking about.

Here’s something, I don’t know if it applies to you, but hey. Maybe it does.

Infrared driver interfering with tilde key! https://www.cheathappens.com/show_board2.asp?headID=74895&titleID=14053

Or try this, it has more scenario’s and suggestions besides the one above: https://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:Fallout_3_console_commands#Troubleshooting

I must be retarded (please agree with me) because I have been searching for hours and you find it in no time. Thanks.

I had a problem with my screen resolution.
I had to edit one of the config files and change the X and Y location that the console appears at because it was off the screen)

Yes, that happens to me. What did you change to get that up?

Ta-da!

Pretty neat page

But ti comes up woith nothing useful.

I decided to make it even easier for you… :hmph:

:hmph:

NO, the console opens for me, but is halfway off of the screen, that is not what I am looking for…

No. That is EXACTLY what you are looking for.
It has the required CFG changes to make it display properly.

Hey, quick question. Is Media Center more like XP or more like Vista?

I have the same problem there. My screen is a 20 inch and it shows it like letterbox and I choose not to use letterbox and the damn thing always seems to pick it. But I look and it’s not chosen as letter box. I don’t know what the problem is and it’s really annoying:meh:

Set the game res to your monitors native res.

Ok, from what most people have told me in my clan, they think that you’ll have to unplug the 360 controller (If you’re using one). Other than that, you’ll just have to play without a console using a 360 controller. The 360 controller disables the keyboard functions. People may have found a crack to that by now.

Another solution. Try changing the resolution. Sometimes I can’t see my console because of the screen not fully fitting. I don’t know why but my Fallout 3 always had a problem with resolutions that I put it. Right now, I’m not even using the correct one for my monitor.:meh:

Oh yeah I already solved this guys. All i had to do was disable the infared tranciever in the Human Interfaces.
