Extraterrestrial life: do you believe?

Pretty straightforward topic, do you believe that there is intelligent life in other planets?

Do you believe that they come regularly to our planet to check out on us and even experiment on us?

Do you think the SETI program will ever find what they’re looking for?

My stance on this is “see it to believe it” but I can’t agree with the notion that in all of this huge, possibly infinite, universe, we may be the only intelligent beings.

I believe we are definitely not alone in the universe.

I do not believe, however, we are being constantly visited by extraterrestrial beings. Perhaps they’ve visited once or twice in our planet’s history, whether we were present to see them or not. But I believe the UFO accounts of recent history are mostly bullshit.

I don’t think there are many people who don’t believe there is extraterrestrial life somewhere in the universe.
I also believe they may have come to earth at times, but until I see some evidence for it, I’m not making my mind up about it.

I do believe there’s other life somewhere out there, but I don’t think earth has ever been visited.

Anyone who has even the slighest understanding of the size of the universe knows that the probability for life outside our solar system is extremely high.
There’s like what, 1 trillion planets per galaxy?

The problem is, the universe is just too damn big. I seriously doubt that we will encounter (primitive) lifeforms unless we somehow find a faster way to traverse those gigantic distances in our universe.

there is 100% chance of life on another planet in this universe

Unless there are no other planets anywhere that have similar conditions to earth and hover around the same temperatures.

Aliens do exist, and they will not respect human life.

I believe there is intelligent life in the universe but the chances of us finding it is slim to nil.

I don’t think that aliens would look at all like they do in the movies and games, unless they evolved under planetary conditions extremely similar to those of Earth’s.

Less mass effect, more blob.

I believe they exist, and I believe they’ve visited this planet. I don’t think all UFOs are “alien” or extraterrestrial (such as plasma UFOs); they may be some sort of yet undiscovered life form living on this planet, which may be very alien in itself.
I think some “craft” UFOs, like saucers, could be some kind of robotic probe sent out by aliens. not necessarily spacemen piloting spaceships.
there’s also the assumption that these objects/beings are coming from a distant planet, when it should be considered that they may have some sort of residence (colony?) on or around our planet. Perhaps they’re not even extraterrestrial, but exist in some parallel universe and their craft are some sort of inter-dimensional craft, rather than interstellar.

But there’s really no way of knowing, unless they were to reveal themselves formally to us. They sure don’t seem to act very human-like from their alleged interactions with people

It’s so annoying to know there’s probably millions of civilizations out there but probably none of them have actually met eachother because of the enormous size of the universe.

Even visiting our nearest star (excluding the Sun), Proxima Centauri, would take over 70 thousand years using our fastest satellites. Visiting another galaxy would probably take over a billion years. :fffuuu:

Lets just stick to visiting the moon for now…

you’d be entirely stupid to not believe in it. but no, i doubt they’ve come here for the same reason we can never go there, physical laws prevent it for all but the most advanced civilizations. and if they were that advanced, why would they be at all interested in us, of all civilizations?

And the chances of them finding us on this pitiful little planet is next to nil just as the chances of us finding others is also next to nil. But who knows…?

^ what Jeannotvb, Fancy Pants, danielsangeo, Ramirezoid and sersoft said.

There’s definitely life out there. Whether or not they’ve been visiting our planet, I don’t know, but I’d like to think they have; it would explain a lot of the stranger UFO sightings that have happened over the years.

I believe there’s at least a little bit intelligent life out there but forget about İntelligent life if there isn’t any planet on the universe, except ours, that has multi-cellular organisms in it than we REAALLY have a big waste of space.

I think there is definitely inteligent life out there, but as already mentioned, we can’t reach them.

I want to believe.

Maybe it’ll be like SPORE in the future and there will be vast amounts of alien empires that all have a different way of thinking.

Anyways, I’m sure there’s life on other planets, there’s no doubt. Wether we find it or not might not be as small as many of you guys seem to believe, but it’s still pretty small.

Also, I thought once of us being the first, but that’s a pretty small chance of being true.

Anyone who thinks that we are alone is pretty much a fucktard.
