Evolution vs Creation

Yes, I recall the video. Just because it is natural, doesn’t mean I have to like it grumbles

Just finished watching. Good stuff. Nice to see my opinions about religious morality vs. instinctive morality be shared by at least this intelligent seeming fellow.

Don’t mind me just putting coal in the fire.

I recall some GREAT fun reading/trolling the Flat Earth Society with some Starcraft II forum regulars. It’s so funny how closed they are to empirical evidence. Meanwhile ‘proof’ like some ancient maps with dragons drawn on them or old books written by loons is perfectly welcome.

Is this guy honestly worried about being hit on?

I’m pretty sure that was a troll.

No one is THAT dumb.

no one that calls themselves a practicing Christian no less.

Who exactly are we calling a troll? Acristoff’s anonymous poster?

You really don’t think this type of hate and ignorance exists in the world? Before I go any farther, please clarify.

I was detecting a bit of the bagpipes coming in over the loch.

Wait, is there still people believing in that god made earth? Seriously?

(Damn, that sounded really offensive :facepalm

thats my favorite, just cause the name for it is so silly and irrelevant to anything youd ever actually argue about

wow, there’s sure some hot debates goin on here, despite the fact that I missed most of it :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m a Christian and I believe in evolution, just that it doesn’t have to take millions of years. It also can go side by side with creationism.

Uh, what? Why doesn’t it have to take millions of years?

He’s actually right, it doesn’t have to take millions of years. The evolution of everything on this planet did, though.

I think that it depends on the lifespan of the species in question. If the lifespan is very short, then evolution doesn’t have to take millions of years. If you can have a hundred generations in a day, evolution wouldn’t take that long for that species.

I don’t know of any species that has a lifespan similarly short, though.

microscopic bacteria

Sorry, I should’ve been more specific. I don’t know any complex multicellular species with a short lifetime. By “complex multicellular species”, I’m referring to animals such as cats, horses, rats, whales, birds, sharks, etc.

Let me tell about something that is happening in Brazil. There is a very known disease here (typical in tropical countries) that is called dengue (a disease similar to yellow fever) which is transmitted by Aedes Aegypti (the “yellow fever mosquito”).

There was a few years ago a campaign to eliminate them. They are known to reproduce in clear, stopped water, so the strategy was to eliminate or cover stopped water from vases, recipients, old tires, etc. Now, studies have found out (another reference) that Aedes Aegypti have adapted itself. Now it is able to reproduce in dirty, salty water as well. It also is have developed resistance to common pesticides.

The fruit fly, Drosophila. Which is why it’s often used in research.

Yes, I’ve pointed out these kinds of things before to advocates of creationism being taught in science class and that’s how they respond. When you try to nail them down on what they mean by “kind”, however, they can never be specific.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
