Evolution vs Creation

I guess they are expecting a big animal to be born with two extra legs or wings.

All you can see in little time is small changes. Well, at least that is proven possible by science. But then all you need to do is to create a simulation program to see that those small changes and a lot of time is all you need to conclude the theory of evolution.

The example being used at the time was “rat”. So, I asked this specific creationist (whom I had a long and storied conversation with) what “rat” means. Strangely, that was the end of the conversation. And I never heard from the creationist again. Did he get sick of me? Did he get offended at my question? I don’t know.

Since he wouldn’t answer any more of my posts, I don’t think I’ll ever know.

I believe that God created evolution. I do not know the specifics, nor am I concerned about them because of my faith.

That you, and good day.

what an excellent contribution to a discussion thread

What if neither are correct?

what if gravity is incorrect

You mean God and evolution being both wrong? Honestly, I can live with both being either right or wrong. What I can’t stand is someone saying to me that I must believe in God without a doubt or otherwise I’ll go to hell. I could elaborate on that, but that is off topic.

About evolution being wrong or not, well, we can either say “We can’t know anything for sure so we won’t try finding out anything at all” or we can acknowledge that some information is better than none. If anything we find out is wrong, we can hope that someday we will know that.

I would first have to ask you what you mean by “evolution” in this context.

Actually, humans can impact the evolution of a species through our intervention and influence. Look at what we have done to African Elephants in a short few hundred years. I will grant that it’s not as subtle as most influences found in nature, but it is a natural response to our actions ( hunting large tusked elephants ). Now elephants are being born with smaller tusks.

The average human height is increasing at an alarming rate. There is real concern that our body structures aren’t meant to support a great deal more average height growth.

It’s already causing problems in the form of back problems, knee problems, …

We Dutch are officially the tallest people in the world (average male height of ~185cm / 6"1"). No problems here.

But you really suck at basketball…

They must be only fake tall?

I would be interested to see the knee / back problem rates in your country versus a country with a much lower average height…

Then compare the shorter country’s suicide rate.

I haven’t heard of such problems occuring on a large scale in this country. Just because we are big doesn’t mean our knees can’t handle it, infact I weigh much less than people that were shorter than me.
One major advantage of being tall is that you are less likely to have overweight problems.
For all my 18 years of life I have never had any problems with overweight even though I have quite a sedentary lifestyle.

Sitting in cars might get annoying though, not much room for the legs and your head tends to bump into the ceiling. :stuck_out_tongue:
Small beds in hotels etc. are also a no-go.

I just said I would be interested to see the statistics. I never made any detraction against the sizable humans of your country.

Actually it is true, most Biologists, Chemists, phycisists, and other scientists are atheists. Also most scientists in the united states are democratic (don’t think I am lying this is actually a true statement)

Not to mention all the dog/ cat sub breeds we invented.

I believe in both.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
