Wikipedia, but it appears to be accurate enough: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eucharistic_miracle
Yeah, that seems to be right.
I’m still here, and I’m still asking for evidence (look up the definition of evidence if you think of trying to respond with “we can think and stuff”) that god is real.
I belive that all religeon is equally stupid with the exception of Scientology which is extremly stupid.
Well you’re in the wrong place, since evidence is never going to appear anytime soon. That’s something science can’t do at the moment, assuming it’s even possible to ever do.
You don’t need 100% solid proof to be sure something exists, just enough to point you in the general direction of the idea. A vast majority of science is just “theory” anyway, since none of it can actually be proven.
Then show me whatever it is that can point me in the general direction.
Hey, don’t look at me. I’m not the one trying to prove it. I’m just here to tell all the atheists telling religious people that they are morons for ignoring facts that there isn’t any proof on their side either.
My argument is simply that while there isn’t anything really to prove the existence God, there isn’t anything that proves he can’t exist and that there’s no reason why you can’t keep an open mind or be a little more understanding towards those who want to keep that open-mindedness.
Science measures the physical. This includes matter, forces such as gravity, electricity, etc. You’re proposing the existence of something that cannot be touched, tasted, seen, heard, smelled, or verified by any sort of test that could possibly be constructed, because said test would always be physical.
Ever read “The Dragon In My Garage” by Carl Sagan?
Gravity is a theory. I think you trust it enough to not jump out of a 50 story building and expect to fly. A scientific “theory” is something that has been confirmed through countless experiments done by countless scientists across the globe and everyone got the same result. It’s also only a “theory” that if you shoot a person, they’ll be hurt. Theoretically, the bullet could stop in mid-air, Matrix style. But would you ever expect it to? No.
However, what in the world points in the “general direction” of a “supernatural” world?
The atheists don’t need proof. The religious people are the ones making a claim that something supernatural exists and thus the burden of proof is one them.
Atheists are open minded. Show proof that something exists and we’ll accept it.
But if I claimed I discovered cold fusion and you asked me for proof, wouldn’t it seem a bit odd if I said “You can’t PROVE I didn’t discover cold fusion! You need to keep an open mind!” In other words, until proof is submitted for something, there is no reason to believe it.
Watch this video:
You know I’ve never really seen those videos before, but I was very interested in the ‘putting faith in it’s place’ ( a later entry ) and how it so closely followed some of the things I brought up here. I like those vids. They do a good job of explaining concepts I struggle to find the proper words for.
I don’t hate many things more than being called closed-minded. As Magical Master said, an atheist is inherently open-minded (if they are atheist on a scientific basis). Find us proof or at least believable evidence and we’ll believe you, as long as we can also test for this evidence.
I present a question to the atheists looking for “evidence” that anything in religion is real; can you provide evidence to the meaning of life or what happens in the afterlife? Can you explain exactly why we’re here, especially when you consider the catastrophes that shaped humanity, a series of very random events or something more? Science can only explain so much, life is a weird thing and if some people find comfort in believing that there is a purpose, then so what? At least they have one. I find it very depressing to believe that it’s just black after I’ve gone and life is just a meaningless series of pointless events
A little faith is always a good and sometimes comforting thing
It’s not the job of Atheism to offer meaning or provide comfort. Also, does religion ever offer REAL evidence of meaning?
religon does not offer evidence, but it offers a meaning, live your life morally and well, and you will be rewarded in the afterlife. I’m not religous myself but believe in destiny and fate, that everything happens for a reason, in this life and the next. Basically what I’m saying is you say theirs no god, fair enough, you then ask for evidence, but where is your evidence to their being no god?
I don’t get why life must have meaning, and why there has to be a reason for our existing.
We’re alive, try to enjoy it while it lasts. Isn’t that enough?
Atheists aren’t the ones claiming there is a god, so the burden of proof is not on them.
Atheists biggest claim is, there is no god, that is a “belief” and belief, as many atheists here would claim, needs to be backed up by scientific evidence.
Everything has meaning, from evolution to gravity, so why shouldnt life?
I’d like you prove that there are no invisible elves inside your head.
personally if there where elves inside my head I’d know right? or the doctors or an optician would find 'em? But if you wont to go against proffesional oppionon and that is your belief then please go on and explain more, I’m very open minded and may wish to subscribe to your newsletter
Well, no, they’re invisible, so the doctors can’t find them. And the elves are the ones that operate your brain, so there is the proof that they exist. If there were no elves, how else could your brain work?
This is backwards logic.
You say “God exists!” We want proof before we’ll believe he does.
Atheists claiming god does not exist is not a belief, it is a lack of belief.
If you claim the validity of a theory, or the existence of something, or whatever, you have to prove it. Not the other way around.
You don’t have to prove your innocence in court, the accuser has to prove your guilt.
May I ask what the meaning of evolution and gravity is then?
You’d hear them and there’s no room for them. Invisible != silent and minuscule. Plus I’d probably have brain damage.
