Eucharistic Shenaninigans

Because of the implications of such belief without question, yes. You have faith? Why? You do realize that as a christian there is certain obligations you have to spread the word of god, and to bring others to the flock right? Do you believe this is a wise thing to do without questioning, or making sure you aren’t doing something wrong? Maybe even causing real damage to human diversity and progress as a species.

People who claim it’s just faith, and others should accept that scare the hell out of me. Now I don’t demand that you see things my way, but I certainly hope people are willing to at least accept that they should use their ‘god given’ gift of common sense.

You said for many people it makes sense. As one of those people, I would like to know why it makes sense? Why does basing your beliefs off of the christian texts make sense?

Spread the word of God? Yes, we are to be ready to answer questions when seekers come to us asking for guidance. But I also know that not all will receive what the word has to say, and I have also been warned that there will be many who will mock me for it. It is for this reason I choose carefully who I attempt to explain my beliefs.

But if you are asking honestly, I will tell you as best way I know how. But if you are simply asking in order to bait me into an argument, I don’t have the time or inclination for it and no God does not require that we involve ourselves in these types of debates. As a matter of fact I can name a couple of passages that strictly tells us to stay out of arguments that have no end or that are not meant to solve anything.

To try to answer you, to me faith is simply built on a miracle your soul experiences. It is like trying to explain the color red to a man who is color blind. Your eyes are opened and things that were hidden before are no longer hidden. I know that is not going to be a good enough reason for you, but you asked for my opinion and there it is.

Now, can you guys simply accept me for who I am without judging me for my beliefs? Just as I accept you for being agnostic, atheist, catholic, protestant, christian, muslim, buddhist …

And you say we should use our common sense as if all we are are simple minded baboons. That we dont have teachers, philosophers, scientists, and other scholarly folk in our ranks.

AT any rate, I think I will go back to mah Bible study. If anyone needs me I will be over their ---->

Otherwise carry on without me. I am uninterested in debating over it.

Religious arguments are so useless, people believe different things. I think everyone should at least agree on that. What do people think these arguments will do anyway? Convert people to their religion/irreligion? That never worked.

Everyone likes talking about religion, it’s a fascinating subject. Even Athiests can’t resist bringing it up/making threads about it.

I’m not reading or responding to this thread as in-depth anymore, but I have to respond to this:

This video pretty much answers that question.

I can’t listen to audio right now, why don’t you summarize?

Spinning Walrus with Gluon god says that there is no other religion but his and I have to close all topic which do not idealize him.

Talking about religion on a forum brings nothing but arguments fiddled with hate and stupidity.

Okay, guys, let’s continue!

unlocked? mmk.

No, this has been moved to the new debating subsection of the forums.

Ah, well thats fine with me.
So far its been less a debate rather than a Q&A, but its cool.

perhaps later tonight i shall make a big post… perhaps

edit: Screw it, can’t be arsed to go back. I’ll respond to new posts though.

I used to take the Eucharist back when I went to an ultraliberal Lutheran church. But by 13 I was into experimenting with religion and jumped between deism, Hinduism, and Buddhism for a while. Now-a-days, I’m an atheist.

I’ve never seen any convincing evidence for miracles relating to the Eucharist. Videos are far too uncontrolled for me to change my belief system based on their contents and claims.

I hope that religion becomes more friendly and liberal in the future and then sort of fades away as we get on with building ourselves a better place in he universe with science.

It’s weird how religion changes.

The Catholic Church used to be completely fine with Evolution (hell, even a couple of popes have agreed with it - one reason for why I don’t understand why Catholics look up to them) but now they have a problem.

In this day and age I think evolution is generally accepted by the Catholic Church. Many other divisions of Christianity do not accept it, though. Many believe evolution is how God created life on Earth rather than creating something from nothing.

I think the pope disagrees.

No, the Pope seems to support theistic evolution, which states the process of evolution is guided by God, rather than creationism. I could post a bunch of links you won’t click on, but I would rather post the link to Wikipedia’s article, which you might click on.

What are you talking about Eucharist miracles?
Whatever.

Look at the thread title.

ha! I forgot thats the topic. and that you started the thread.
So soup, what do mean eucharist miracles? I have no idea what you’re talkin about.
