i just hope its longer than the last two episodes
Man, this Episode has become something like unbelievable utopian dream. Iâm gonna celebrate well when itâs come out, along with BMS.
There are other things out there than arsenal that make a game great (ie, gameplay and in CSâs case, the copious amount of mods).
My only wish is that episode 3 is released at the very least a week before December 21, 2012, so that I may have time to play it before the world ends with whatever disaster it feels like ending with. :fffuuu:
December 22nd, youâre done ep3 Valve announces ep4
"WORLD, STOP DUN END :fffuuu: "
yeah i totaly feel you. The reason counter strike weapons didnt get old is simple, they feel fucking powerfull, most weapons can kill you in 2-4 hits, awp in 1, and almost all in 1 headshot.
And in hl;af life 2 especially the episodes? they just pew pew pew at the enemy, with no indication of you doing any dmg to them. Why the hell am i running with 300 bullets for a gun that takes 10 shoots to kill a cat, when i can have 50 bullets and kill anything in 2-3 shoots. A gameplay like that makes you count each bullet and feel more attached and depended on the weapon. Even magnum feels useless and weak, and there is barley any ammo for it. This really shows in a game like dead space, where i spend almost whole of it running only with the basic weapon, the powerful and slow feel of it, and ripping the enemy apart limp after limb made me so attached to it i swapped it only when i was geting low on ammo.
I just played ep 2 for the first time this week, and in the dev commentary there is a part they talk about the underground antilion fight with waves of them, they mention that for some reason most of the testers used shotgun only when they were supposed to use the assault rifle, so they added a shotgun ammo chest there. They seem to completely miss teh fact the reason for that is that the shotgun can 1 shoot the enemies when you get close to them, making it more risky and entertaining, also the 6 bullets and long reload time make you time your attacks more.
Anyway its to late now for such have gameplay changes as to make enemies hit 3x harder but die 3x quicker, would feel like another game in ep3.
Theirs only option is to add procedural animations and dmg indication to when an enemy is getting hit and remake the weapons models, something like the euphoria engine did in gta4, that will make the weapons feel at least a bit more cooler.
:fffuuu::fffuuu::fffuuu::fffuuu:
didnât they do something like for left4dead2? (more noticable damage to enemies, with all that flailing and what not? Mind you I havenât played l4d2 yet)
L4D; Thank God I paid $40 for a beta!
Anyway, it wonât do us much good speculating. Truth is, Iâm FROM Valve, we currently have 365 employees, each one with a different birthday so that keeps every day exciting. Anyway, Gabe and I were chatting last night discussing the HL-verse and let me just say, BIG THINGS are coming for Gordon, Alyx, Lamarr, and even the Gnome! Good to see many faithful people waiting for our release, and I canât wait until we get BMS set for release on Steam!

Learn to edit the Skill file. Then learn how to shut up. The both of you. :freeman:
so you saying the way to go is to change the game? Its called moding, and it dosnt change the reatil version and how it will get reviewed, and dont work on consolesâŚ
And how the hell will i change the number of ammo on level, in ammo.cfg file ?
BACK ON TOPIC:
Episode 3 is going to consist of Alyx and Gordon jumping into the helicopter and going barhopping internationally out of depression. They drink themselves silly and then drunkenly crash the copter into the Appalachians. END OF GAME.
EDIT: Blue, you edit the weapon scripts.
Actually it did, then it became new again and it got old again and then new.
After credits: you awake in a bed with the smell of friend eggs. Youâre in a motel. You turn your head to the right, and the Gman looks at you with a sly seductive (and very creepy) smile.
You thought he looked like Alyx at the bar⌠:fffuuu:
Type any of these things in the console, you donât need mods, you donât even need cheats:
sk_max_smg1(or whatever the weapon name is)
sk_ammo_qty_scale2(or 1, or 3, depending on difficulty level)
sk_dmg_inflict_scale2
sk_dmg_take_scale2
then a space & whatever number youâd like. Why do I even bother with you people?
I know why Valve wouldnât show us ep3.
Theyâre scared as fuck it isnât as good of a game as BM, so theyâre waiting for BM to be released so they can compare and see if they have to redo the whole thing from scratch or not. :retard:
âLOLOLOLOLOLâ Yeah right. :meh:
^true, true.
Protip: fire in bursts. Itâs much more accurate, and spends less ammo.
I do, but the gun itself is still ridiculously inaccurate and ammo-hungry, and 99% of the time itâs still just an assault rifle. Also, the ammo case on the front clearly should be able to hold hundreds of rounds, since it seems each little disc it loads is 30, and itâs big enough to hold dozens of those discs.
I think Episode 3 needs new guns and/or needs to improve the old ones. None of them felt very good, and aside from the over-used gravity gun, and the under-used bugbait, none of them did anything particularly interesting.
I also hope we find out what the fuck is with the Nihillanth. He had some serious shit going on with him, both in plot and in body, and I wanna know what his deal is.
But the AR2 kills hunters for those who arenât man enough to punch them to death.
