Entertainment Stores

Why do most entertainment stores like HMV, Blockbuster, EB Games, Gamestop stopped selling or only sell a few PC games? Is it cause of pirating or figure that most PC gamers buy online?

Consoles make more money, so they focus on selling those. My local stores do have a PC section, but it’s usually smaller and in the back.

Yeah not many PC gamers are going to go out to the store to buy a game unless it’s like a limited edition with bonus stuff or something.

Steam.

The digital era is raising the bar too high for them to meet with their shitty customer service.

The Gamestop near me has a small one near the back, use to be a lot bigger.

Oh well, not really much of a problem. You can get anything worth buying a heck of a lot cheaper used off of amazon, so not really much of an issue.

The companies that make Xbox 360 games make it Live-compatible because they’re only generous to an equally rich company and want to make them even richer. (You have to pay for live, Dur)

Wait, what?

I think he’s saying something along the lines of: Game developers for 360 make you pay more for the games, simply for the ability to access a feature that you have to pay an additional amount for to use, thus generating greater income for Storefronts, developers, and third-party-software suppliers alike, at the (greatly exaggerated) expense to the users. Maybe I paraphrased. Not sure I even understand what I just got out of that.

Er, GO COMPUTERS!

Digital distribution FTW.

XBox Live? I always assumed the subscription fees went straight to Microsoft.

Gamestop is terrible, last year one of the the hairy closet furfags that worked there told me that L4D wasn’t available on PC.

Also, Blockbuster went out of business.

BWUH?! Have you mentioned this to the Blockbuster right down the street that I rent from every weekend? Because I’m sure they’d love to know that they’re out of business and no longer drawing a pay check. :fffuuu:

Because the game developers are jealous of how well-put-together our PCs are.

Company.
Make game.
Live-Compitable.
Cause he want.
Other company.
To be rich.
(PS: and to just piss us PC gamers off)

It’s like a slow change, over time they’re going to remain to close different blockbusters. A shame too. I loved renting movies from there. They even had some good Xbox 360 games(that were never, ever in stock.)

Instead of posting like a smartass, why don’t you actually elaborate on how any of that is relevant to the topic? Madcat1030 did a decent explanation of your post, but I’m not sure if that’s actually what you meant. He wasn’t even sure if he got it right either.

In my town there’s three GAME shops, each sort of specialises in one platform. I always forget which, so I’m reduced to walking hundreds of miles

Looking at how badly he posts I don’t think he has any good point to make.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
