Ok, whenever I start playing the HL2 Episode 1 mod Minerva the game shuts down at a random time and I get this error: Internal driver error in IDirect3DDevice 9 :stuck_out_tongue: resent (). I have the latest video card drivers and the latest version of DirectX. This hasn’t been a problem some ten months ago. Here are my specs:

  • AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor 3000+ 1.99 GHz Performance Rated at 3.00

  • 1 GB RAM

  • Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

  • NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS

try right clicking on it in steam, go to properties, set launch options to “-dxlevel 80” without the quotes

Well yeah that could work but will the graphics get downgraded?

Well if you run the game in dx8 it’s pretty certain the graphics will get downgraded. For example the water would revert to cheap water.

Ok I tried the directX8 command but sadly it didn’t help. Could it be a driver issue?

Try updating your drivers, then come back if that doesn’t work.

and try to re-install DX

It seems reinstalling DirectX did the trick. Thanks guys. If it still crashes I’ll let you know.
