Empire State Building lights up for China.. WTF

Ridiculous? Apparently you don’t know the severity of this. I knew somebody was going to go “well you’ve disappeared then came back” I WOULD reply to people, had it not been other people already saying what I was going to say. But hey, if you’re not coming back to this thread, I don’t expect you to reply to me.

The translation being that you can’t really think of a rubuttal but want to act cool, anyway, so you’re hiding behind a response that doesn’t recquire thought.

If you claim to disagree, at least put the effort into disproving me.:meh:

I think where he’s going with this is that there’s no point in debating the issue because your entire argument is coming from beliefs, which are obviously devoid of just about any factual information. In essence, it’s similar to debating religion. You’re using either misinformed information or opinions in opposition to a small number of facts. The truth is, neither of you can provide proof either way, because so little is known about the issue. So, in the end, you’re just arguing your own personal, biased, ridiculous opinions based on a mere shred of somewhat irrelevant information. The entire debate is pointless. He has recognized this, you have not.

Can y’all be a bit nicer to Winged One? I live 10 minutes from where he is and he’s getting so much flame he’s going to blame me then come to me in my sleep to skullfuck me.

I understand the fact that it’s a interesting discussion, but you opened the thread with a statement that was your opinion, with no backing. So yeah, it was a bit of a stupid, uneducated sounding statement, even if it wasn’t.

You sit back knowing someone will say what you were gonna? You’ve got the idea of a forum down to a tee :expressionless:

I am, and I just did.
.

Wait, you used that as a reason to stop antagonizing him? I would have used that as a reason to continue

Don’t want penis in my head, thank you very much

EDIT:Oh God, we’re going off-topic!

So, other than exposing Collision for a loony conspiracy nut and Winged One for his scary, jingoistic ignorance, does this thread have an actual topic worth discussing?

Well, I learnt about the Empire State being lit up for various occasions.

I didn’t actually know that :expressionless:
.

Oh, please, it was hardly ignorant. How can my own opinions be ignorant. Sure, my opinions may seem ignorant to people who think we should embrace Afghanistan and offer forgiveness for failing to root out Osama Bin Laden in his Al Qaeda phase (FYI, the people there thought–and some still do–that he’s a damned saint. There was a reporter [BRITISH NOT AMERICAN] that showed pictures of 9/11. The people said that their dear Bin Laden couldn’t do it. It was a commonly held conception the man was no terrorist. I admit, I know not what the public thinks of him now, but until the country truly shows they had NOTHING to do with it and start to actually help with the terrorist killing, I wouldn’t consider them friendly.) and I think they’re just as ignorant.

Yeah, and before someone says "Hey, faggot, you funded his ass during the Cold War…) Yeah, we did. And I know. But that was to drive out the “evil” Soviets. Now we would say it was the lesser of two evils, but at the time, we had no knowledge of what he was going to plot.

North Korea and Iran are ran by fucking psychos…so totally not friendly.

Hm, if you want to peg ignorant people in this thread, how about those with no knowledge of, you know, common knowledge. Like the OP, for stating China was our biggest enemy. We actually trade a LOT with them. Pick up any toy and check where it’s from. Usually, it’s China. If we really treated them as enemies, we’d break all communication. They’re sorta like that guy you know that uses cocaine and beats his wife with a wooden board…Just because you don’t agree with his choices doesn’t mean you need to pick a fight with him. Especially if he’s five times as huge.

And, hey, Collision can also be grouped in this “ignorance” catagory. The whole 9/11 conspiracy is bad enough from a full-fledged American. It’s nearly laughable, really. Why the hell would the government kill thousands of people? To go to war with the Middle East? Hell, at that rate they can just launch a fucking nuke and destroy the East Coast to go to war with North Korea…again. In addition, Bin Laden released numerous videos where he took full responsibility and said that the towers actually collapsing were a pleasant surprise.

Of course, when a foeigner says it, it’s just toatally off-beat.

Is that not a valid reason for a thread?

If you want to defend yourself against claims of ignorance (it would probably be too petty of me to note any amusement that you don’t deny jingoism), here’s your first pointer. When you talk about ‘Afghanistan’ or ‘Pakistan’ or ‘Iran’ like they are singular beings, define what you’re actually talking about. You seem to oscillate between talking about their governments, their people, and some vague (and ultimately meaningless) conception of a nation as an existent gestalt entity with it’s own mind and specific intentions, rather than a concept and a name attached to a region on a map.

hurr hurr they all wear turbans.

No, I just skimmed over jingoism…which I’m not. I’m patriotic, not “FEEL MY WRATH MIDDLE EAST” patriotic.

But, anyway, I see a country as three parts: the people, the government, and the media (yes, they are a part).

The people are the citizens, and their opinions affect the actions of the country. If the general populace believe something is bad or good, the country will start acting as if said thing is bad or good. See communism in the US during the Red Scare…a public opinion that spooked the government into action. They’re also the muscle of the country.

The government is the brains of the operation. They actually make the policies. Depending on who’s in office, these decisions can be beneficial or malicious towards other countries. I don’t suppose anyone would argue that North Korea has a good gobvernment going on right now. =P

The media actually has the power to influence the masses. Depending on what they report, they can turn a country around 180 degrees, just by making public opinion biased.

A country, I believe is almost a singular organism, though wat more disjointed and fractured. However, the way the internal organs (the people) function, ultimately decide what the country does as a whole. It’s more complicated than a region with a name. If it was that simple, there’d be no such thing as patriotism.

These are all my beliefs. I mean, you can start making fun of them all you want, but when you start calling me ingnorant, I’m gonna get just a little flustered. Cause it’s impossible to be ingnorant about one’s own beliefs and opinions. You can be ignorant on facts, not thoughts.

Curious. So I was to say, in my opinion the sky is not blue, you wouldn’t think there’s any way to call that nonsensical or say that it displays ignorance of the actual state of the sky?

Anyway, based on your now more elucidated definition of a nation, is it Pakistan’s government, its citizens or its media that you consider to be your nation’s enemy? Just to pick out one example. I still don’t see that anything you’ve said yet bears much similarity to the real world - your views on everything seem hugely oversimplified.

China is fucked up, the Middle east is fucked up, Africa is fucked up, the world is fucked up, and we (America) sits in ignorance caring for nothing but their wallets and maintaining distance from the shit hole that is the world.

No matter what happens, things are just going to get worse and worse, we don’t have the ability to switch to alternative fuel, we’re running out of oil, the world is led by the rich and corrupt, overpopulating and starvation is at record highs and rising, global warming is melting icecaps and causing other disasters, forests are disappearing and the list goes on. the best thing that could happen to fix all this is if everyone just pulled a gun to their head and blew their brains out. Humans can’t coexist with the environment or each other.

Well, what is color but society’s generally accepted classification for hue?

Anyway, the media has been a knife in the back of America for so long. They were the ones saying we should go to Afghanistan and Iraq, supporting George Bush, feeding the mass hysteria about weapons of mass destruction, speculation about the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and then later, turning on their previous opinions, saying how bad the war was, and looked for a scapegoat- George was the one they chose. (Yes, I’m looking at you, Fox.) George wasn’t the most eloquently spoken president, but he wasn’t mentally challenged… Plus, we DID elect him into office, so you’d think that the intelligence of the president we chose would reflect that of our own, within reason. (Meaning that we should have KNOWN whether or not he was fit, and if he was not, it was the electors fault in choosing him.)

P.S., will people stop trying to be funny by posting those “de-motivational” things?

No-one likes a fucking pedant, and no-one wanted to see me type out something like "Given that I define ‘the sky’ to follow the commonly accepted definition of ‘the view upwards through the atmosphere from any unenclosed area on the Earth’s surface’, and given that I define ‘blue’ as to be ‘the visual quality associated with electromagnetic radiation in the visible light spectrum, specifically of a wavelength of around 400-500 nanometres’, would you not be able to call it nonsensical or ignorance if I said “in my opinion, the colour of the sky on a sunny, clear day is not any shade of colour that fits the name blue?”

When I start feeling like this (happening more and more often lately) I just mooch some weed from my friend. Makes everything better.
