Embryonic stem cell research

Some of you seem to think that if it’s called a stem cell it’s like any other stem cell, if you can get stem cells from another source it’s probably not as free in whatever those cells can become.

Let me put it into simple terms for you:

Embryonic stem cells - Good

Umbilical cord stem cells (forgot the actual term) - Okay

Artificial stem cells - bad

All in terms of quality of course.

Soup, you can stop asking for “source” any time now. Google ‘induced pluripotency.’ It’s a fact.
Would this discovery have been possible without embryonic stem cell research? Doubtful.

Religion is an inherent aspect of human nature. It isn’t going anywhere. And a good thing too, considering the massive amount of charity/aid distributed to the world’s poorest populations through religious organizations. But thats a discussion more suited for the Eucharistic Shenanigans thread.

Fair enough, but, in relation to embryonic research: what are the costs, what’s the success rate and what’s the quality of the resultant cells?

See my answer in the Eucharistic Shenanigans thread.

No idea about the cost/quality etc, that too can be found by googling. I’m not arguing against the use of embryonic stem cells if necessary. But alternatives are obviously a good thing, considering the controversy.

It’s really okay, really! The rest of the world has gotten so far ahead with Embryonic Stem Cell research, that as soon as certain groups get off their high-horses, we’ll be up to speed with nary a missed step.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
