Its not gonna be down for long, Moubarak won’t compromise Egyptian economy and busyness. After 30 years in power its hard for him to go away peacefully
My server is in egypt ¬¬
ankhs for nothing egypt! this is not pharaoh at all imo. if the government thinks they can get away with this they are in denile.
Internet hate machine is ineffective without internet.
Meanwhile, at the government office.
Do governments have a big red button that disables all internet? I wonder if it’s right next to the button that nukes everyone.
No it’s under it, so the nuke button has to be pressed first. The earth and everyone on it is actually long dead, and you are in hell.
Why do you think you’ve been meeting so many stupid people?
I hear the Obama administration is planning to make something similar here in the US. Keep your eyes open folks, the government boogeyman is here to slip our liberty roofies.
Disabling the internet in the U.S. would be a lot harder. They’d probably have to EMP the country to do so effectively.
Not to mention that practically every person in the U.S. that owns and irresponsibly operates firearms is an avid internet user.
All your internets are belong to us
Actually, the US President always had that power since the advent of the Internet. Nice spin.
That said, it will NEVER happen here. The US relies too much on the economic stimulus created by the Internet and nearly every big company headquartered in the US relies on the Internet for major portions of revenue. Take Amazon as a prime example.
No, it won’t happen; it’s just fearmongering by “zOMFG Odumbo’s shutting down the toobz!” people.
You mean a job for the World Police!
The government issues instructions to ISPs and mobile phone networks to cut off internet access. Vodafone have released a statement saying that they have to comply, it’s the law. There’s no ‘big red button’
Some people are saying they’re getting around the block with dial up connections
Why doesn’t one of the Egyptian president’s loyal guards assassinate him and end it
already? Come on, he’s been in power for 30 years, that’s way too long to remain objective, even for a biased point of view that’s bad.
That’s why.
Why would the privileged risk all they got because of the population ?
The guard and the police are loyal to the president, and are unpopular with the people. Since the unrest began they’ve been using extremely heavy handed tactics. They’re also the kind gentleman that put electrodes on your teeth and bollocks when you’re in prison.
The army is seen in a much more favourable light, partly owing to their work in the war with Israel. Their loyalty will be crucial to the outcome of the unrest, but they’re liked by the people and not as heavy handed as the civil agencies. In fact, they used force against the border guards during their strikes in the early years of the president’s rule.
The army’s been deployed to Cairo, but they were greeted with cheering and it’s hoped they’ll keep the police in line
I don’t know about irresponsible but I’m there.
Maybe you forgot to read the part where it said, " don’t take that too seriously " .
You know… as in… a joke. I was trying to sound like the typical stupid American. It was… ah forget it.
