'Easter Eggs' and Cool Stuff

Hey, I’m the dude with all those pizza facts, and I just found another today before I completed the game.

When you’re teleport jumping in that big chamber with all the portals, one of them takes you into a room that has 2 scientists and a security guard in it. Upon popping in, one of the scientists says “You’re that one from the Anomalous Materials Lab!” to which the guard responds, “Really? I thought he was the pizza guy…”

I see

I don’t get it unless I am completely off which is also the case. But I don’t see any reliance to it.

The last word is ‘Extention’

And there are TWO hidden hats in the game, both of witch I found and sent to Xen, the teleporter section was… interesting. Lots of saving and loading.

Not sure if this constitutes as an easter egg, a coincidence or some awesome scripting, but while playing around in the break room containing the infamous tuna casserole I picked up a pop can and proceeded to toss it at the head of one of the employees (you know, for ‘science’ and all).

As it passed through her head, she asked how ‘the debugging process’ was going.

I’ve stumbled across a few.

In Office Complex, you can find this sort of shrine to Richard Feynman (esteemed scientist and partial inspiration for Gordon Freeman’s character) and Hedy Lamarr, the inspiration for Kleiner’s pet headcrab’s name in HL2.

In Questionable Ethics, you can find this portrait of Schrodinger’s Cat, from his quantam mechanical model that demonstrates singularity collapse from the observation of a hyperposition of two states.

Next to the dopefish, is a Lewis structure for tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, found in marijuana. The writing beside the illustration states “Found in Fig. 4 Specimen,” which is the dopefish.

Right beside the dopefish is another Lewis Structure, but I can’t figure out what it is. It’s also referred as being found in the dopefish, but I can’t for the life of me think of what it is. I’m sure it’s humorous if I could think of the molecule. >:I

Another ‘Office Space’ reference - the red Swingline stapler.

I wish I took screenshots but did any of you find the secret area in surface tension? I dont know how I teleported into it but I cant noclip back into it. I teleported into it when I was dropping down a level when you first start the last area (you know the one with the airplanes and the huge canyon). There is a area with some ammo, a energy cell, and a flashlight. Something I did teleported me to the other side of the map (you can kinda see the teleport polygons from noclip but you die everytime you try to get near it) In there is a little hut with lots of watermelons and a picture of a Dr Chow/Cho? or something. And you can teleport right out. But I cant find a way back in. I think I will create a thread on it. Since it was a cool little area.

Don’t have a screenshot (at school), but there is a gallon Jug of Turtlewax Car Wax that actually resembles the unchanged product label.

I bet they got paid to do this!

This isn’t an easter egg…rather, I file it under "cool stuff.

Has anyone else found the gibbing system to be utterly hilarious when it comes to physics-objects?

Example: In “Office Complex”, in the room where the two scientists are hiding behind a…whiteboard? Or a screen of some kind…I knocked it over rather than throwing it away like I did the last couple of playthroughs and walked over it to go grab a few points of health from the health station…and one of the two guards following me walks over/through it and instantly explodes in a shower of blood and body parts. It was impressive, and extremely funny. Probably a bug, but eh…I consider it a feature because I have fun with it.

Had a similar thing in Residue Processing with a (dead) bullsquid getting blown up by a barrel rolling towards it at about a third of a meter per second.

On the actual “cool stuff/easter egg” side of things, many will have noticed that if you go back to the microwave after the resonance cascade, there’s a headcrab in there you can fry. If you look closely however, “Headcrab” is one of the preset buttons on the microwave". Black Mesa truly is prepared for anything…I’ve never been able to use one of those buttons on a real microwave.

i dono iv its anything special but befor u enter the test chamber a few rooms befor theres two npc in a room when one of the computers blow up… if u look closely thay are both Eli “Alyx´s dad” and profesor kleiner from hl2 but there younger. and most of the other npc´s look alot like movie acters.

It seems the BM microwaves knew about the invasion!

Also, these screens can be seen a lot:

"Investigators examining the wreckage of a helicopter that crashed in the East Coast and killed a passenger have found as evidence that the engine failed as they spent several hours Thursday questioning the pilot of the aircraft.

The investigators found no metal particles on a magnetic monitoring device from the London, N.J-based helicopter engine that could have indicated damage, said National Transportation Safety Board member Mark Rossman.

That, and the lack of a rupture in the engine case were “a good indication there was no failure at the time of the accident” he said.

Sonya Maria, a 41-year old British woman who lives in Australia and was visiting the city with her family to celebrate her 40th birthday, died in Tuesday’s crash. Her body was pulled from the water by police divers 90 minutes after the Bell 206 helicopter crashed Tuesday afternoon after taking off from a Manhatten riverside heliport near the United Nations headquarters.

Three other passengers were injured, including Heires Tamaica, who was reported to be in critical condition with possible damage to her lungs and brain. All were friends of the pilot, investigators have said.

Thursday’s examination of the wreckage by NTSB investigators focused largely on a mechanical chip detector. Rossman said at a news conference in a riverside parking lot not far from the crash site, “the monitoring device, commonly found in helicopters, plugs into the engine to attract particles of metal that are chipped off and can indicate internal damage.”

chuckle bros anyone?

Here is a better image of the qecode.

TWO?!!

@ James the Medic: It looks like Dopamine to me.

I love the windows easter egg.
It’s the reason why the experiment had “unforseen consequences”.

Regarding the snack machine, I noticed something else other than Walker’s:

Here you go:

This one is in a yellow container in the warehouse with all the Assasins.

This one is found in the portal puzzle; go through portals 2 then 5, and take the ladder to your right, you can’t miss it.

Anyone else found this one

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
