EAH4850 drivers

Just got my new computer put together, everything’s working fine except for my EAH4850 TOP whose drivers refuse to install and my computer chooses to ignore no matter what. The CD that came with it crashes whenever I try to launch it (double click > CheckID.exe has stopped working) and any drivers I try to download are applied to the motherboard’s chipset (an ATI HD4200.) At this point I’m pretty frustrated and have no idea how to actually get the card working.

so yeah help me out

Disable the onboard graphic chip. You can do that in the bios.

That could not be the greatest idea right?

you connected via the 4850 atm you just need working drivers?

Yea, you should probably make sure the new card IS in the computer and is the one that’s handling video out functions. It doesn’t really need drivers to do that much.

ACTUALLY, you could also go into Windows’ display properties and select the video device you wish to use, and see if the new card is listed, choose that, restart, and THEN try reinstalling the drivers

Where are you downloading drivers from? If it’s from their website, maybe you should try to let Windows Update give it a shot, see if it can’t install SOME drivers for the new card, then install the NEWEST ones (which Windows Update never has) after that.

It would be a good idea to disable the built-in graphics chipset as King said, if you’re not using it. You don’t want any hardware conflicts arising.

If he plugged the video cable into the graphics card and not into the mainboard while he gets a good signal to the monitor everything is fine. Disabling the onboard graphics chip is the first thing to do. Sometimes you have to choose primary display connection or something like that. It depends on the bios you have.

You have no idea. If he doesn’t get a signal from the 4850 it is damaged and need to be replaced. You can easily reset your bios if so.

It’s fixed, thanks for the help.

NO WAIT!! IT’S A BOMB!!
